    Apple cut off date.

I’ve been mulling over the idea of upgrading to an iPhone 15 for a few months but still using my 11 for now. In my head now I’m thinking it’s only 6ish months until the 16 will launch so do I just wait? Maybe there’s too much thought going into this one.

There are some good deals from third party sellers (including big names like Amazon) for new iPhone 15 models, which might reduce the thought you're over paying.

I always find MacRumours useful for when the 'should i buy X' comes up..

You are over thinking it. There is a new one each year and the improvements are incremental.

I have just bought the 13 - supported until 27/28, I guess, and the camera seems to be the main difference between the 14 and 15 above the 13.

No brainer, as I have cables all over the place that are thunederbird rather than USB-c and backup/wife's phone that is also thunderbird.

If it’s any consolation, I’ve also been thinking the same as I have a 12 Pro, which still works fine and I’ve kept thinking about getting the 15 Pro. I’d actually forgotten about it up until reading this so perhaps that answers my question - I’ve coped perfectly well with my current one so shall keep doing so until more details of the 16 Pro are released.

I would go for a WTB for a 13/14 pro. I have a 13 pro and was going to get the 15 but it seems quite fragile, reminiscent of the iPhone 6, so I’m waiting for the new one.

It used to be a big admin ordeal to change phones, but nowadays it's so easy with iPhones that it's always very tempting to buy the latest and greatest. For me the decision on whether to upgrade or not usually comes down to the camera updates. 11 vs 15 will be night and day difference. That said, unless you're getting a good deal on the 15 I'd be tempted to wait for the 16 now.

My main reason for considering the change is that I’m constantly running out of storage now and it won’t do a software update until I clear some space. The phone itself seems to be spot on, even the battery is still at 92%, it’s the 64gb of storage killing it right now.

Still using the SE Mk2 here. Keep looking at the new models but they seem to get bigger every time! I get the phone/tablet thing but at the end of the day it has to fit in a pocket!
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

I’m on 11 and I’m tempted to go with a 15 for the better camera.

64GB is pretty small but it’s worth double checking to see if you’ve done everything you can.

Make sure photos are set to optimised meaning only the thumbnails are on the device and the photos are in iCloud. Double check storage in settings to make sure there are no rogue iplayer or Netflix downloads lingering and refine the Spotify playlists to make sure not too much is local and clear the cache.

This, and generally speaking almost indistinguishable from the previous year's model.

I still use an 11 Pro Max (one business) and a 12 Pro Max (the other businesses and personal); not felt a need to upgrade yet.

The only thing which sets alarm bells off for me is the Airmail app which is taking up over 7 gig now. Nothing else is over 2 including photos or music.

I’ve been in touch with Airmail customer services to see if there’s anything I can do but no reply as yet. I know I could just delete it and use the Mail app but I do quite like the interface. Strangely the Mail app has the same email accounts configured but is less than 1 gig size wise.

Doesn’t look like you’re alone. I would try and look for another client like gmail, outlook or research further.

If you’re in love with Airmail you could just go back to it when you get a new phone with more storage.

The camera in the 15 is superb and won’t be significantly further changed in next couple of cycles.

I usually change every 3-5 cycles, and the 15 had the spec that made a change from the Xr worthwhile for me.

    A few thoughts

if you are well invested in lightning cables and connectors then the switch to USB-C is worth considering if that’s going to be an issue.

The screen will seem a lot more fluid, the promotion is noticeable and the Dynamic Island is a nice touch, but for everything I do, only a small upgrade from my 13 PRO

With the 15s I’m waiting to see if they fix some of the issues\

I’ve heard they have has had some issues with the USB-C and charging it on the wireless charging pads in BMWs, which would be an issue for me, apparently they can get very hot and can cause the nfc to stop working so kills Apple Pay and doesn’t do the battery any good.

Personally I’d say save some money and buy a 14pro stays with lightning connector and has the latest screen tech and Dynamic Island as the 15 pro, there’s no known issues I’m aware of.

Well, I decided to bite the bullet earlier and delete the Airmail app which was taking up so much space. As a result I’ve now been able to get all the software updates installed and according to the storage info I now have about 10gb free.

If things stay as they are I’ll hang on for the 16 launch in the Autum.

If you’re ever stuck re software updates and lack of space I think you can plug into iTunes and update that way instead without having to delete anything.

Is the 15 Pro worth the extra over the 15?

The pro has a better display, the 120hz screen makes a difference and telephoto on the camera is better, but think it’s the same sensor and lens.

The titanium feels nicer than the aluminium but only if you don’t have it in a case, the pro has more grown up colours but just my opinion

It’s quite a cost increase if those are not things you want

    Apple cut off date.

I came to the conclusion a few years ago that by keeping an iPhone for 3 years they worked out as fairly good value for money given their resale value - and as their development had slowed somewhat the annual changes were incremental at best. I’ve had a 7, an 11 and now a 13 pro which I bought shortly after release and I have no intention of upgrading yet. I simply can’t see anything wrong with my current phone, my son has a 15 and aside from the Dynamic Island which isn’t exactly groundbreaking there’s no functional difference I can tell. I may upgrade to a 16 later this year as it’s that 3 year sweet spot to chop the old against new - but only if there is a new standout feature available in the next generation, which I doubt.
