I watched an episode of Repair Shop on the BBC over Christmas and have since been trying to find a real life one to send a family heirloom to for repair.
Do these things actually exist?
My Great Grandfather built a “writing box” but as it has spent generations in attics it really needs a good going over and fixing.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks

"Well they would say that ... wouldn't they!"
There was a restorer / repairer in Warwick many years ago, near the town hall museum.
It was an old fashioned shop smelling of wax and furniture polish.
I bought some silicone restorer polish there. The bloke behind the counter was a proper old style craftsman, and very helpful.
Edit: I remember the very small shop front as being near to market hall museum about 15 years ago. It does not pop up on Google maps so may have closed or relocated

Alex in Bae Colwyn (French polisher) can sort it, or otherwise know someone who can. His shop is by the Cambria photography shop on the main drag.
