    Omega Seamaster 300 / 1964 / 165-014

    Happy Friday !

My son has happily inherited my interest in watches and today took possession of the below…… has been authenticated as orginal comes with box and papers but non original strap.

I havent seen it first hand yet but curious to know its value …… the plan is to love it and wear it (and not restore it) as it came from a colleague who recently passed away and so means alot

What a lovely bequeathed treasure , one to cherish physically and mentally . Super I hope your son and the watch have many happy , healthy years and experiences together .
If only these treasures could talk of their past and witnessing encounters .

That’s lovely! I don’t know enough about this variant but it’s definitely worth good money.

The bezel insert looks in good condition - it’s probably Bakelite so tell him to be careful with it as you can’t get genuine replacements any more.

    Lucky fella!!

That is a lovely looking example of one of the best looking dive watches ever made.
As said the bezel inserts are impossible to find but there is one guy (in Italy I think) who makes a good replacement. The originals were slightly concave so it’s easy to tell if it’s a replacement.

Edit looking at the image I think that’s the original insert. Lucky!

Cool thing. Some of these had a no 12 which was lumed as well as the hour plots.
Light it up and check at some point.

Aldo is the Italian guy who was the first to offer replacement inserts. Others now offer similar and there’s not a huge difference in quality between them (although there is a big difference in price!). I’ve heard good things about these guys.

I saw one before Christmas, the case is a little smaller than the 165.024 and the lugs are straight. I hope someone more knowledgeable can confirm. Lovely looking watch!

Correct. Straight lug cases are 39mm.

Almost. The recent 'Trilogy' was modelled on the original CK2913 which was then superseded by the similar 14755. The OPs 165.014 followed this and was in turn, superseded by the more common, asymmetric cased 165.024.

Ta. They were churning them out at a rate back then!
