    Which Monaco would you choose?

I am considering a Monaco purchase. Which would you pick out of these 3 or would you choose another?

Pic number two for me, the Gulf looks great but I suspect the novelty would wear off for me after a while.

I have the first one but always hankered after the third gulf version

Ive had the first version (on bracelet), if it was on bracelet then the Gulf, if on a strap no 2.

Always loved the look of the Monaco but always thought they are too small for my liking. Do they do a larger cased model with the blue face?

    No.2

Although I like my all Black Monaco, I prefer the modern Blue Heuer model.
It's just a matter of time...

I’ve had this from new, original Gulf model. Rarely worn but a great watch

Always No 2, the classic Calibre 11. Slightly bothered by the modular movement, but the best of those choices . It is a a shame that particular design doesn’t yet have the in house movement.

I must admit the second one is probably my choice. I owned the first a number of years ago (the acrylic glass one). I do like the vintage vibes of number 2

    Number 2 looks fantastic.
Also the date window on 1 looks unfinished compared to 2.

Having owned 1 and 3, I do think a CAW211P (number 2) is the perfect Monaco in my opinion.

    Number 2 all day long.

The left hand crown and horizontal markers work well on the square case. Unfortunately RRP for a modular movement are now crazy.

For its size 39mm, it both wears large and small (or sits well on small wrists). Owned one for 11m roughly, just grew slightly out of love with it after wanting one a lot!

Paired mine with the newer dark blue Gulf strap which IMHO suited more than the back one.

I’d struggle to decide between one and two. Both have their individual characteristics that work.

Number 2 but try them on as I find the Monacos uncomfortable to wear - they aren't easy to centre on the wrist and the 9 o clock crown digs into the wrist.

They do look super cool though.

I’ve had the one in pic. no. 1 , at least twice..probably three times.

I’ve also had 2 black dialled ones. Also had one of them on a bracelet, depsite generally I much prefer watches on bracelets, I think the Monaco looks better ion leather straps though..

As for them wearing small? I find the complete opposite. I do like them, the only thing that puts me off them, is I was always conscious of the size of them when passing door handles etc!

Saying all of the above….i will still probably get another one……one day!

If it’s a choice or one or the others, got to be number 2 for me. Like a few others have owned number 1 and would like the gulf as an addition but if it’s just one it has to be (I bought Mcbeardy’s so won’t put any more pics up)

I do think they wear large but don’t mind that, they do seem to get a lot more comment than other watches when worn though.

Regarding the comments on these wearing large, I have a CW2113 which is an early re-edition with the plexiglass crystal. I've tried on a CAW211P and found it wore a fair bit bigger than mine, despite being the same size on paper, and much heavier too. So anyone that finds the current ones too big might want to try an earlier one. I believe these are from 1998 to 2007.

My Dad has the version with crown and pushers in the same side and it wears really well and looks great. The others often look very large in photos. I would seek out one of the older gulf versions.

Thank you guys for all the comments and advice and really liking the Monaco pictures.

At one time I've had 5 a watch I've really warmed to. They wear larger than the 39mm case suggests. I've got broad wrists so I found no issues with size.

The Cal 11 'left handers' irritated initially - found i was putting them on my wrist 'backwards' habit caused by wearing normal watches with the crown pointing to your fingers.

As for what watch to buy, I'd go for number 1 out the blue dials. It has a lovely sunburst dial that comes alive in the sun. Number 2's dial is very flat in comparison.
The placement of indices on 2 & 3 make my teeth itch!
The Gulf version is rather nice too.
Love the Heuer branding on the clasp of CAL 11's

There is lots of choice with Monaco's albeit some are hard to find but worth hunting down.

A few pics...one of which will be on to a new owner next week. Likely A few more will up for re-homing

Number one it looks the part,70s style and colours.

It just looks far more classy than number 2.

Number 3 maybe, if I was a regular at Goodwood driving old Jags (or the like) around the track.

Seconded - I also have a CW 2113 which is very comfortable on my 7" wrist at 13mm but found the newer model unwearable (15.2mm)

At the price they are now there is really no excuse for using modular movements.

The 3rd is not for me and 2nd is a little dark with the red. That leaves the 1st as my choice.

    Number 2 without question.

No 2 for me due to the balance between the pushers and the crown. Also as has been said above it looks more vintage / classic. Good luck with both your decision and finding the right watch.

I like them all but unfortunately I found them too large and bulky when I actually tried one on.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

There was a time when I was dead certain that a Monaco was my next watch purchase.

I came very close to buying a silver dialed one, but really the white on black chrono is the one that appealed.

Somewhere along the way, though, my interest waned and now, while I appreciate they're a classic design, I wonder why I wanted one so much.

had and sold number 2; but still my preference if I were to dip in again.

i think it's a model that suits the more vintage look of 2 and it wears a decent size for an older design
