Wore my 5513 today - what a lovely wristwatch

    a). 1967 watch
b). "Original" face - but a few bits of "paint" missing
    c). "Original" Crown
    d). Bracelet "original"
d). Bezel has been changed - to one that would have been on a 1980's watch or a Mk 3 - but not a service replacement - but not "original"

destined for one of my grand-sons!!!

    post your 5513 images!!

Oh Jeez, petulant deletion is contagious, evidently. Anyway, your two-tone Daytona doesn't appear on either the Here and Now or the Been and Gone pages.

There is no image of your watch on the original post in case you thought there was

don't understand this at all - the Learning to fly posting has been deleted

all I did was start the thread with an image and a few comments

Learning to fly then posted "Mine" - I thought he mean't that my watch had originally been owned by him - so I stated when and where I bought it - L to F them seems to have taken offence, (?) and deleted his post ......... I just don't understand what has happened

another one of those confusing threads?

Crossed wires and an overreaction, that's all. I also assumed that LTF was saying that he used to own it. At least the quotes exist so we can work out what happened otherwise it would be really confusing.

To be fair here too, I’ve noticed in the last couple of weeks that trying to edit a post results in its deletion, so perhaps that’s happened to Tony when he tried to clear things up after an ambiguous initial response :)

    Thank you.

I’ve been told that it has a later maxi dial and probably, as the hands and bezel pip match, a later set of hands and bezel too. It smacks of having had a Rolex service at some time. I think that the jubilee bracelet suits it.

Turned out to be a typical Rolex thread, if somewhat early on - I think I'll stick to wearing a Heuer!!

Very pretty watch. Had a great MK5 from Bluetinfloor which I should have kept for 20 years in a deposit box but something new and shiny always pops up.

just wonder how many different "styles" of the 5513 there are

maybe there is a web site with an image etc., of every version throughout the years?

The word ‘mine’ was a hyperlink to info about his watch. You asked for folk to share images, he responded sharing a link to his. Presumably you missed the link, simple misunderstanding.

Thank you Quintessential Rolex IMO, simple and elegant. Make sure you buy the best that you can, it'll pay off in the long run!

It's a term given to the shape of the coronet on the 'Pre Comex' dials due to it's "smudgy and very fat at the bottom" appearance (from 5513mattedial.com).

5513, 14060M, 124060 comparison and a few more. Wish I still had it but I was always paranoid of knocking it and the lume falling out of one of the hands. Would be a great one for special occasions.

    Lovely 5513 Billln.

The 124060 depicted above looks very ungainly in comparison to all of the other watches in the thread.

I think it’s a vBulletin problem, I have the same issue here and on another forum. It only happens when using my phone, so I now only edit posts if I’m on my laptop.

    Well worth the wait!

This thread is giving me twinges, I nearly bought a 5513 from Mike Wood ten years ago but held off. Then prices went through the roof. I have a matte dial 16800 but would prefer no-date and the plexy. Oh well.

Thanks. Here's one on the bracelet, which was actually a new 93150 when I acquired the watch some 10 years ago.

OP, apologies for throwing my toys out the pram earlier in the thread. I was feeling particularly unwell at the time.

    Horrible old things!

Added a aftermarket easy link after removing the divers extension, game changer for comfort on the 93150.

That's an outstanding example and I'd be hunting out a mk3 insert for it.
    It deserves it.

Ongoing dental treatment - no chance!

The sides of the bracelet links are brushed. I understand, as delivered, they would have been polished, but that doesn’t bother me.

Here you have something interesting from best Polish magican
I'm against polishing old watches but this one is good that i think i would consider doing it to my 5513 (unfortunately i don't have one:)

    /QUOTE]

That is lovely and would possibly do on an already polished watch but you would obviously be able to tell it was refinished.
Not sure I'd do it on a watch with original lines even if a bit banged up.

Do you have a link for this restorer?
