    Relume watch hands demo

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu3xGggrSLQ

Interesting DIY relume watch hands demo. But at your own risk if restoring hands previously radium lumed.

Scroll forward to 22.44 for the lume application

Note no brush used to apply the lume.

Thanks Sundial, very interesting and clearly a professional. He says how easy it is, but for someone like me, it isn't. You need all the tools and knowledge of what you're doing.

Out of interest, does the forum use certain individuals for reluming? I'm not talking necessary about using luminous paint, but a neutral paint so that it doesn't illuminate in accordance with the rest of the vintage dial.

The video illustrates practising lume application onto scrap / surplus hands. Some tools are fairly basic. The hand support tool can be DIY made using a 3mm pegwood stick, sharpened and abraded to a long slim needle point cone and inserted into a suitable base.

The Bergeon lume kit is what I use, v. expensive for what it is, but can produce excellent results with care and experience. A small tool is supplied for applying the lume and that helps a lot. Mixing the lume to the correct consistency is critical and that only comes with experience and practice. Reluming hands isn`t too difficult but trying to relume a dial is far more challenging, not something I undertake.

I got bored trying to watch the video!

A member here, dreamboat10, is something of a specialist and I can't recommend him highly enough.
