    Grandfather's retirement clock....

    Hi

I decided to put my late grandfather's clock out on display again.

It reminded me to share the engraving on the reverse celebrating 44yrs service , unfortunately they managed to spell his surname incorrectly !

It should read ' Fruen '.....

    I like it.

What did the company produce (no google result for me) and what did your grandfather do for them for 44 years?

Beautiful, 44 years is an incredible amount of time to work in one place.

Some searching on Google shows it could have been a joinery based in Harrow called Westerdick Joinery which later changed to the name above.

    Hi

Correct...he worked in the sawmill and even continued through the war as it was considered an essential service.

Family long service awards are always nice.

That would have been state of the art then.
    Cheers,
    Neil.
