    I Despair…

I think I’m probably allowing this to vex me a little more than it should,

    but really…

    What the actual f@# ?

    Mud
    Puddles
    Wet leaves…?

Is this what we’ve become ?

    As Billy Connolly would say,
    “F@# Off!”

But would Billy say it in the best pit or the George and dragon?

Are you sure those are the hazards the sign refers to?

This sign was installed at my ex-employers factory walkway = narrow path.
    No wonder I left.

It wasn't that long ago a TZ member was asking if he could sue the council for injuring himself after falling in a shallow hole on some council owned land next to a playing field. Someone has probably tried to sue the landowner here for tripping over a branch or something stupid. We've reached a point where some people take no personal responsibility for their actions and are out to make a claim for anything they can, so I'm sure the land owner doesn't want to cover their property in signage but have been advised to by their H&S advisor.

In our ever more litigious society gormless people have to have warning signs erected for them so they don't sue you.

Rather like when you buy a packet of peanuts which has a warning "Danger may contain peanuts".
    Cheers,
    Neil.

One of the best examples of this which I have seen is at Center Parcs MANY years ago.

Sign stating 'DANGER THIN ICE' at the edge of their lake/pond, when it was around 25C in the middle of their summer season.

Somewhere I have some photos of when a pal of mine was working in Azerbaijan on an oil field monitor system. Their team (from the UK) had full PPE, the local labour not so.

Here's a sample (excuse the moire effect). I've blurred the chap's face to spare his blushes. I love the dog in the photo!

Many moons ago I was firefighting in Iraq for a few months.
We had full ppe, obviously, the locals crew who turned out to assist us wore cotton overalls and flip flops.
As each guy finished their tour they ‘donated’ their kit to them.

On return to unit the orders for new fire kit all read “damaged and left in theatre”

All the radiators at work have a little yellow sticker stuck to the wall above them saying "CAUTION surface may be hot", and the taps 'CAUTION Hot Water'.

    How did we ever survive?

Dental student conducting "Risk Assessment" for a root canal treatment with patient....."There's a risk that I might drill out of the side of your tooth....but I don't think that I will because I'm very careful"

Me thinking "NO, there's NO chance of that SURELY?"

    Patient looking alarmed!

Me to Student...."Tell them some of the benefits as well as the risks.....like, if you don't have this treatment, the alternative is taking the tooth out!"

Patient says, "Oh, that's fine then"
