Looks like my rose gold Ingenieur will be departing soon. Collection kit from Watchfinder is on its way to me.

Absolutely stunning in real life but my lifestyle dictates that I rarely have occasion to wear such a watch. I’d love a Portugieser as well but know deep down that it would also languish in the box.

Hopefully something else IWC shaped will replace this though !!

Back from a (nearly £1800) service at IWC Japan, my 3714...

Dropped off on 24th January, received back today 16th February.

I called in to my local AD today to try on both the 41mm and 43mm Pilots Chronos. I'm probably swaying more towards the 41mm but both were lovely. I was very impressed with the quality of them. The EasX Change system is an absolute triumph, and even how to remove the pin on the buckle too.

It's steel this one, but has been caressed by IWC with the correct equipment and their magical skills.

Before the service, it had fallen onto a road and had been playing in traffic. The glass was smashed, the hands were bent, the dial ruined, the dial feet broken, strap ripped in two and the deployant buckle, well, buckled. Everything not broken was scratched.

After the service, everything looks new. It wasn't cheap, but hopefully the investment should enable it to last a bit longer now...

...if it stays out of traffic.

I have a love/not-sure-I-like relationship with this one.
I keep putting it up for sale, then it doesn’t really spark much interest and I curse the fools for not realising how good it is - which in turn makes me wear it again, and realise I really like it.

Then I think it looks to big on me and I list it on SC again…

    Argh!

No, not at all (and with that wide angle lens, it’ll look much better IRL).

Once upon a time I thought this watch was too small for my wrist/frame (6ft5", 120kg) but now it's maybe the one I wear most, such a smart looking watch.

That’s the Ingy gone, and replaced with this chunk of bronze. I’ve given it a quick clean up to remove some patina and will now let it age normally.

It is a big boy.. but it’s very comfortable. It also managed to obtain the seal of approval from Mrs G when it arrived with the comment “yes, that’s definitely more ‘you’.” Bonus !

Almost a year into my IWC ownership, loving the versatility of the XX and the EasX system (my wallet not so much)

How are the easX leather straps after a bit of wear?

I tried a Mark XX in store and was horrified by how uncomfortable the strap was.

I haven't used my leather much at all so can't give much info. on how they hold up (I'm sure others can) I initially dismissed the rubber straps but I'm now sold on them and have a few. I'd definitely recommend, not as dressy as the leathers but still look & wear well

They last well but I find them uncomfortable due to the hard spot created by the end clip so I use traditional straps.

I don’t use the IWC ones as they are uncomfortable for me so use Colareb ones.

Apologies, thought you meant it was just the EasX ones you found uncomfortable.

I assume non EasX straps fit on the factory pins ok?!

It’s the EasX straps I find uncomfortable as the strap is stiff at the ends where the clip is which creates a hard spot. If you have a different shaped wrist you probably would not find the same.

So I just use a standard strap.

Ok. I have ordered black rubber and canvas straps off AliExpress to see how they look before committing to something better quality.

I’m not finding this an issue on my BP43.

I suspect it’s just down to me being fussy. I wore them for about 9 months before I changed.

Annoying really as I like the system.

I've clearly been sold on the brand and (suckered into) the EasX straps. Had a visit to a boutique today and I got a little carried away

I see you went overboard on the IWC chocolates.

The sales assistant was indeed rather generous, basically poured them into the bag

What reference are they going on?

I’m tempted by the middle one for my blue BP43. Think it’ll be a nice summer look.

Got them for my white XX, the Mercedes/Petronas green is a great colour my pic doesn't capture it well. The light blue would look good on a blue dial.

Nice, I can see you going onwards until you have all 4 dial colours and all the straps.

The Mark XX really is an excellent watch.

That would indeed be a nice collection to have but not a reality for me, I have been very tempted with the blue dial but realised it would be a bit silly of me.
Ever since I picked up the green last year I've headed down the rabbit hole,
I do think the white offers the most versatility and is currently my go to at the moment. I'm also done with straps for now but will add the orange rubber at some point.

Do you have any others for your chrono? I'm currently trying to work out what else would work with the green dial on mine.
