Then I got obsessed by the rare small (35mm I think) Portuguese...eventually managed to track down all three main versions.

And eventually I sourced a platinum small Portugese 3532. This was what I wore to my wedding...just beautiful

Love the fact that its made from Platinum

I liked it a lot but sold it on at greater than a 50% loss (although I believe values have since bounced back, in typical fashion...)

There may be another IWC arriving early next year, a 3714, but we shall see. The newer ones I don't fancy much, but that's not restricted to IWC.
Is that the same as the 3227-01 (currently on my wrist) but with the orange accents?

I've had an on/off fancy for a Tribute to Mk XI on the assumption it could be fully serviced outside the IWC network but you've got me wondering now. Silly that they won't sell the parts to a watch repairer or you as the owner!

Same watch but a limited edition, with a brown dial and different caseback. I wrote a review with some more info.

Looking at that I wonder why the added polished links on the Mark XX.

Wish I didn't find this thread.
Having serious thoughts about a Mark XX. Will have to go in and try one. I am not convinced about the bracelet so may look at it on leather.

I can highly recommend, if you are tempted I'd seriously consider the bracelet. It suits perfectly and is very well engineered. The EasX change make swapping onto straps very easy.

Thanks for the encouragement...that's another £650 though and then plus the cost of a leather strap. Will take a look though.

Definitely get the bracelet. It’s in a different league to a Rolex bracelet. The easy change system, link removal without screwdrivers and the micro adjust are all excellent.

I wear mine on a strap most of the time but do swap to the bracelet sometimes and it’s excellent.

Very easy to get a strap thrown in as an extra which makes the £650 well worth it, considering most straps are £260 without buckles.
The XX was my first IWC and I'm glad I decided to go for it.

Definitely buy on the bracelet. IWC bracelets are superb and if you decide to get one after the event you’ll be well and truly fleeced. You’ll probably get a strap thrown in for nothing if you ask, too.

Thanks LTF. I will report back. Hopefully I can get in the shop sometime soon.

next conundrum is dial choice, I am leaning towards classic = black.

Most of the IWC watches look 10 times better on a simple leather strap, the bracelets just look wrong to my eyes.

New strap for my blue BP43. Prefer the brown to the original navy.

Those BP 43's do look great, I like the simple no date dial.
I'm loving the EasX change system

Timely, this. IWC have always left me cold. No interest. But last night I tried on a MkXV owned by a friend and utterly fell for it. Not sure I've ever had a greater conversion. Now have a WTB for one!

Thank you! The colours are better in person too - kind of wet sand / putty / light brown colours which perfectly match across the strap, dial and case with a completely matte texture which I love. It's light but not overly so at around 110g with the strap.

Thanks! I've always loved their coloured ceramics and now they finally come in a size that I can handle! I assume 41mm versions in white and green will follow, possibly this year.

Thanks - that's the one! It has a charcoal dial with grey hands and numerals. I like the monochrome colours without the red seconds hand of the regular production model.

The Mark XV was really a sweet spot in the series. For most a more wearable size than the XI and XII, but still retains the “correct” look of its predecessors. I think it’s the only choice unless you specifically want an issued mark XI.
