    Dr Pimple Popper

Would have had a field day with this, probably the worst tyre I’ve seen in 35 years, how the hell it made it here is beyond me. A timely reminder to check your tyres regularly!

    That’s a bad one.

Used to supply a company that did overland tours in Africa and India in the ‘80s in Bedford 4x4 trucks. Saw some imaginative and pretty scary repairs on the tyres when the trucks came back after a couple of tours. 110 psi lurking behind a sidewall ‘stitched’ together tended to focus your attention!
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Colway! Name from the past. Their M+S remoulds were famous. Or infamous!

Myself and my father used to use Colway tyres for our club stage rallying, they were very well thought of.

Mind you, they only had to last for a few events, and somewhat ironically never fitted them to our road cars!

Twice in the last couple of years, I’ve spotted tyres down to the cord on cars of friends/relations.

Its the most common issue we see, the state of some tyres are simply staggering considering people ferry the kids in them. One of the worst ones I've seen recently was off the local coppers car.

    Didn’t realise that. Frightening.

The other thing I spotted on B-I-L’s van was the sidewall of one tyre starting to perish. He seemed remarkably unconcerned, which surprised me as he’s not usually daft.

Some interesting times. Never knew the owner but some interesting folks worked at Shefford.
