    Gaming Laptop recommendations

Would anyone be able to recommend a laptop that is powerful enough to use for gaming, music editing and also as a home workhorse? Don't want to spend more than £1k so doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles but looking to get the best bang for my buck.

    Thanks in advance

    I'd suggest PC Specialist.

Had quite a few systems (desktop and laptop) from them for family and friends (and work colleagues) and never had any issues. Support was good with one desktop that had a fault after a few weeks:

Personally when I want tech and I'm not in a big rush, I tend to use HUKD. You can add a keyword alert and just see what comes in. There's a few on there now but no major heat. Heat system tends to be a pretty good indicator of a good deal and there's always a couple of knowledgeable folk in the comments.

If you can hang on for black Friday. We have had a couple of MSI which have been faultless.

So this worked perfectly. There was a lot of heat on this offer, comments saying it was great value and actually it stacked with a further 20% cashback from Quidco bringing the cost down to under £800! Arrives tomorrow.

Sweet deal. Hefty set of specs

Gaming laptops can be tricky as often they aren't an apple to apples comparison even with the same specs. The main culprit is the graphics card power consumption. Take a careful look at the model of graphics and the tdp. In lots of cases laptop manufacturers limit the power draw of the graphics card (reduce heat and increase battery life) which reduces the speed of the card and reduces its gaming ability (often below that of lesser models running at full tdp).

Also look at the ram and if it is soldered onto the board (means no options to upgrade).

I went with a Lenovo legion. These allow full tdp to the graphics card.
