I'm in the wonderful position of buying one of these two watches from an AD over the next couple of days. Trouble is, I can't quite choose between them.
The PanomaticLunar is 40mm, automatic, just shy of a grand cheaper than the other option and I absolutely love the dial (I've had a couple before but not in this colour).
The PanoInverse is a watch I've lusted after for a long time and can imagine wearing it with joy for years to come. Aside from being slightly more expensive it's also manual wind (no issue there) and 42mm, which is as large as I'd ever want to go these days.
As a matter of interest, which would you go for, and why?

You already have a nicer green watch with the IWC and although 44mm if going for the latter I’d be more interested in a GP but at that price maybe not. In short, neither.

For myself I'd choose the Panomatic Lunar: 40mm, date, auto > 42mm, no-date, manual.
I've long lusted after a PanoInverse but seeing that PanoMatic in that green swings it. If it pops like that in real life, it's got to be the PanoMatic.

Eye popping green and for all the previous reasons mentioned in the thread. However the inverse is something you will treasure for years, so you should go for the inverse… the green will just be a watch you rotate as and when.
2nd one for me Tony, I always find the novelty of coloured dials seems to wane (with me at least) and you have 'lusted' for some time.

The more I look at the manual one, the more it seems like there's a good 2mm of needless diameter. I've no idea it that's true or not, but it looks to me like a medium sized watch bobbing about in a big case.
I voted for the PaniMaticLunar. I've always loved the look of these but was blown away when seeing the green and blue in person. I'm saving for the blue as I do like a blue dialled watch.
I bucked the trend and voted for the "inverse"
Far more timeless than the green dial, give it a few years and no one will want green dialled watches, the fad will wane.

I do prefer a manual wind generally but overall if I had to choose it would be the Panomatic
The big date window is a big plus for me with GO’s and the smaller size together with green dial makes it the overall winner

Panomatic for me.. but I do think it would result in your IWC moving on.
The PanoInverse is one the few watches that screams GO to me. I loved mine and if I could have kept it at the time I would have.
Wheras with my Lunar, although I really liked the looks I ended up hating the moon phase function.
It's just a matter of time...

Inverse for me, what attracts me to watches (in part) is the beating mechanical heart of them and that inverse is a beautiful example and mechanical engineering at its finest. IMHO.

I’ve tried the 40mm panomatic/ lunar on a couple of times (white dial and blue dial/ gold case) and I’ve always been left a little flat.
The inverse is a one off, and is such an iconic German design.

Sounds to me that you have to scratch that Inverse itch!

Had a Panomatic (from you) and found it top heavy on the wrist, Panoinverse for me (but the old smaller model, which I know is not an option for you as you are buying new).

Lunar for me, love that green whilst the inverse doesn't do anything visually
40mm is as large as I would wear with this style of watch , in addition I don’t particularly care for the design of the Panoinverse.
Panomatic Lunar for me Tony, I love the dial colour and the size seems right - too much space on the dial with the PanoInverse and it might be a little tricky to actually tell the time, which may be a practical consideration.
A lovely choice to have though!

Both are excellent, interesting and unusual watches, and while - in general - I like green watches a great deal, I cannot abide that particular shade of green.
The Inverse is a highly individual and unusual watch, and I would love being to enjoy the movement workmanship at all times rather than only those times I'm putting-on or taking-off a watch.
There are no wrong choices here - GO's a great brand.

Well, I've made a decision. It's still a close call but I've now advised WoS to do the necessary.
The Lunar in green is a stunning watch, but whilst I'll love it I know that it'll just form part of my "normal" rotation. I also have the tiniest of nagging thoughts that the dial really is a very bold green, and over a period of time it might lose some of it's allure. (Probably won't, but you never really know with these things.)
Conversely, the PanoInverse really is a very, very special watch and it'll always be something of an event when I strap it on. It's the perfect watch for special occasions, and I know in my gut it'll be a long term keeper and will form part of a smaller collection when I'm ready to downsize to a slightly more manageable collection (I've always felt most comfortable when I have no more than half a dozen watches).

Late to the party but I would have said the one you chose. You didn’t state the lug-lug (across the case) which is always a clincher for me. (<50mm)

We all like to think our watches are conversation starters, but the truth is few notice or care - the Inverse however is the kind of watch that will attract the right kind of attention, albeit you'll be spending some time explaining that, no, it's not a tourbillon...

the Inverse is my favourite Glashutte by a significant margin, so that one.
Well, the Glashutte is with Watches of Switzerland in Regent Street, and is in the process of being transferred to the Brent Cross branch so that I can pick it up from there. I have to admit it’s a bit frustrating given how excited I am to finally land the PanoInverse, but I’m hoping that I can arrange collection on Friday when it will be relatively quiet there. Anyway, not long to wait all being well!
