    Thanks for sharing, I love this sort of thing and being connected with the USAAF makes it doubly interesting.
    Lots of pictures taken by the F5 variant of the P38.
    I found my school but alas my street is just off the coverage.

    Yep, Lockheed got it right as they always tended too.
    It’s iconic, it even appeared in bugs bunny cartoons.
    Completely random but the P38 pilots often wore early B15 jackets like your one on SC as they were less bulky than the sheepskin B3/B6 but warmer than the leather A2.

    Ohh thank you OP. Some really interesting pictures in this collection. Fascinating.

    In fact the normal historic England collection is fabulous. Some of the pictures of the village I used to live in from just after WW2 are amazing - my old house had just been built and it’s amazing to see it as a ‘new build’ from above in 1949. Go to the aerial photo explorer section and have a poke around!
