    Prostate problems

Hello there Iam looking for advice for my 83 year old father. He has prostate issues not cancer and has been offered catheter or turp surgery .He doesn't know what to do and doesn't really understand the information he was given. Can anybody recommend some good straighforward websites and other sources I can access in order to help him make the best decision .He is generally fit and healthy apart from this issue .
Thank you in advance for any help and advise given

https://prostatecanceruk.org/ also covers prostate problems, not just cancer.

Prostate cancer UK has a web chat staffed not a bot who can help and answer your questions, it's only available certain hours but it's a very good resource

Catheter is quite unpleasant ,Turp carries some risks but is in my option the less of the two evils.

I wouldn’t go the Catheter route my poor old dad had a Catheter and it was constantly getting infections and mentally wasn’t doing any good

Had a catheter after my prostatectomy (for cancer) and was thoroughly pissed off with it after a week. I could not comprehend or cope with the idea of a lifelong catheter. TURP is a bit brutal and does risk long-term incontinence, but in my view is still the better option if you are fit for your age.

I had the "turp" op and wow was it effective.
I obviously needed a catheter prior, both nothing to worry about & Im someone who worries!!.

I would also say turp is the better option having experienced problems with catheters in past though would ask about holep laser treatment as an alternative to turp.
