X-33 ready for another 3 years

Changed the battery (again) for my X-33 after the 5sec tick. All good for another three years and cost - £3.00 replacement battery. Quite a bit of fluff under the echo chamber - but movement clean.

Decided to move to NATO for a change

There are a lot of electrical things going on in that watch, it needs to be a big battery!

The whole display lights up like a torch - that must take a lot of power, plus the alarm is the loudest I know on the market - enough to be heard above the jet engines thrusters on a Jupiter 1 launch vehicle.

mine has the 1666C module so TCQ

Omega have quoted me £150 for a battery & re-seal for my X-33.

I don’t fancy doing this myself - even though I have tinkered in the past.

Anyone know anyone in Gloucester / Cheltenham area who could do it ?

I received my X33 back from Omega today & was dismayed to see the 5 second EOL skips on the second hand.

As I was talking to the very helpful customer service lady, it sprang into fully operational mode.

I assume this is because it's been sitting in a chilly shipping/storage facility for a few days ?
( it was shipped Friday but I wasn't around )

Is this normal - Or does it need to go back ?

    TIA

I love the X-33. It looks like nothing else, is extremely light and comfortable, and dead on accurate. Great watches.

Hello z! That doesn’t seem right. The skipping seconds normally indicates a low battery state. I’d keep a careful check over the next week

It was designed to work in extreme space conditions - I don’t think a cool shipping environment would be as the cold as the depths of space. I’ll try and dig out the specs of the tests - I have them somewhere.

    Z. Here are the specs. I think yours needs to go back mate! Martyn

The X-33 was extensively tested by NASA and packed a big punch due to the painstakingly thorough effort by Omega to create the ultimate space/aviation chronograph. It was water and pressure resistant to 3 bars, shock-resistant to 3500Gs, and anti-magnetic (ISO norm 764). Its quartz cal.1666 gave an accuracy of -0.3s to +0.5 seconds per day while it functioned flawlessly from -20 degrees Celsius to +70 degrees Celsius.

    Thanks Martyn.

This thread on watchuseek suggests a bad battery.

I have a call back scheduled today, so will arrange the return.

Well. I have no idea what they did to it last time they had it, but here is the list of what's required this time ...

Mine lasted about 2 years on the 5 second jump mode ;)

Recently got mine back from a 5 month service, looking very nice indeed! 3 pushers replaced, and it now seems uncannily accurate, lost about a second in a month, though there is no mention of a movement change in the report.

I have never used the alarm lol.

    Probably my favourite watch.

With the normal X-33 service they always replace those bits. I got a bag of parts back last time - they even replace the screws on the case back.

I don't think it'll take until July but on the bright side, you get a basically brand new watch back.

They also refurbished the bezel action on mine, it’s very stiff now with no back play, and very noisy.

is that a skywalker X33? Looking at the calibre 5619 … are you sure they don’t want to replace the case  So that’s what they said after it came back with a jumping hand? I would be furious - unless they do that FOC.

    It's a SkyWalker X-33 Solar Impulse Edition.

It went back for the battery change, only to return with the jumping second hand EOL indication.

Luckily, I noticed before it warmed up & returned it - within days of return.

This is now the shopping list of things they need to rectify AFTER they'd serviced it & returned to me.

beggars belief - but it is all zero (additional) cost to me !
