Very sorry to hear this mate.

I myself had prostate cancer , 10 years ago at age 53. They kept saying it was a high risk cancer, as the cancer had spread to outer edge of prostate, and they didn't know if it had spread "outside" the prostate,

I had my prostate gland taken out, and was told Id "almost certainly" have to have radiation afterwards. Luckily I didn't need radiation, as the cancer hadn't spread, and all is OK now. I'm no doctor by any stretch of the imagination. all people have different cases etc, All I do know , and took great comfort in, is right from the very beginning, the docs, kept saying prostate cancer is "slow growing", and many people with prostate cancer . die with it, not because of it.. I mean they die of old age or something else..

I can imagine what you and your family are going through. Stay strong and positive,
    All the best.

Very best wishes Eddie. TimeFactors and the TZ forums come a very distant way down your current priority list.

Echoing others before me, wishing you all the best and agreeing you must make yourself and your treatment the priority at this time.

Horrible news, Eddie. Fingers crossed for a more positive prognosis and treatment plan. I'm going through similar with my father at the moment (lung cancer, despite never having smoked) and we're currently awaiting the results of his third biopsy in the hope this will generate some useful info. It would be difficult enough on its own but, at the same time, my mother's been diagnosed with vascular dementia on top of her other ailments so she is currently consigned to a nursing home. It never rains etc... It goes without saying but make sure you prioritise your health above all else! Timefactors can wait.

So sorry to hear this news, Eddie.

That drug is a chemotherapy, used for other cancers currently (as recommended by NICE)- this may be a new use for it- hope it is effective for you.

This is a nasty disease. If you're a chap over 50 (lot of us on here...) please get your PSA checked. Just ask your doc, and it's a blood test. The earlier it's caught, the better the chance you have.

I've lost one good friend to this bastard, and one who narrowly escaped (had a prostatectomy, signs good so far).

Great advice for everyone reading this. I’m 51 now and got tested last month after seeing that Kenny Logan had been diagnosed without having any symptoms. Get tested lads!

Sorry to read this. I was going to say forget about TF and concentrate on your health but, if you're like me, I often find work a distraction from worries so who knows what's best for you? A lot of folk on here will be thinking about you and wishing you the best.
