Fingers firmly crossed that this has been caught good-and-early and will be a routine prostatectomy + chemo/radio at worst: all the very best for an easy ride sir!

Sorry to hear Eddie, my sister got diagnosed with breast cancer last week which has thrown me somewhat, so cannot even begin to imaging what you’re going through. Stay strong.

Sorry to hear this Eddie, get plenty of rest and focus on your health first and foremost.

A suggestion for those who haven't had a PSA blood test, ask for one and monitor your PSA reading annually (or more frequent if advised).

So sorry and saddened to hear this Eddie don’t give up hope keep fighting after twenty years here I know you will,

My Alice was diagnosed with breast and lymph node cancer on 23 December last year ( inoperable) came out of the blue but boy is she fighting she’s due her 7th round of chemo next Wednesday then some X-rays.

She’s totally shocked me with her determination and I know you will be the same.

    Paul.

Horrible to hear this news Eddie my old mate. Both Helen and I, your chums, are praying for a positive outcome on the 19th.

One saving grace is that Prostate cancer is usually slow growing. My 82 year old uncle had a similar diagnosis a couple of years back and after treatment is still gardening and enjoying life.

All the family are sending our best wishes.

    I'll be in touch.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Bad news indeed, Eddie, but with modern techniques there's every reason to be hopeful for a decent prognosis. As others have said, fingers crossed for better news once you know where things are headed. All the best...Bob

Blimey mate, sorry to hear that.

My dad had it when he was 50. Was treated and cured. He's 79 this year.

Massive strides are being made all the time in this area, so you'll have some excellent news to share at some point.

Well that's a curve ball and a half. Be strong, positive mental attitude etc etc.

I joined a local golf society about 12 years ago, and the chap that ran it had a similar diagnosis almost immediately after I signed up. I just had my latest email from him, and he's not missed an event (4 or 5 every year) since he had his diagnosis. I hope your experience with this is similarly manageable !

Best wishes to you and your family.

Clearly you are advising us now , but have known things are not right a little longer that must have been really tough. I really feel for you. A friend of mine has had prostate surgery using a Da Vinci machine, he has also gone through the chemo route and so far seems OK. Eddie as can be seen from above everyone is rooting for you.

I just logged on for first time in forever to post a wtb & read this. I'm truly sorry to hear this news Eddie.

My father had Prostate Cancer & he had it for a very long time. He was already a frail man with many other illnesses (including COPD & Bladder tumours) but he lived a long time with it & it wasn't the Prostate Cancer (or any Cancer) that got him, so don't think it's a death sentence as it isn't.

Best wishes & try to stay positive (difficult I know) as that really does help.

    Dave

    Best wishes Eddie.

When my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer he was told he would die with it, not of it.
That proved to be true, well over 10 years later.
    Fingers crossed.

Lousy news, best wishes with tests and treatments. A lot to take in, but as others have said here, there are still positives to focus on.

Sorry to hear Eddie and wish you all the best pal
This terrible disease in all its forms is so cruel and all or most of us on here are touched by it one way or another!!
And I know more than a lot pal!
And that is why in two weeks a 20 stone lump like me is going to do a 10k race for life (one way or another I’ll do it)

Sorry to read this news, Eddie.
Wishing you the best of luck in fighting it and hope that you can take some positivity from what others have posted, i.e. that it is something that can be lived with for many years.

  47. #147
Sorry to hear the news Eddie and hopefully something positive comes along at the next check.

I will say this, one of the guys I worked with was diagnosed with stage 3/4 cancer on his pancreas last year. It hit our place hard and knocked him sideways but a year later he has had his bag removed and is now clear and will be returning to work very soon.

Keep fighting it as it’s amazing what they can do treatment wise nowadays.

Good luck to you and your family.
