A refreshing way to look at it Ryan. The way Arsenal fans have gone on and are still going on about that goal has been embarrassing.

Good, Spurs losing and their goal difference taking an absolute battering. Good to see.

Tactically Emery left it too late to make changes- even in the 1at half when they were 2-0 up United were carving through the Villa midfield but just wasteful in final third - should have tightened it up much earlier IMHO.

Newcastle just playing badly. I know they've had injuries but the players still in the team aren't playing at their usual level either. They've now got only the FA cup to play for - if I was the owner I'd bring the new manager in ASAP so he has half a season to build his team and get the tactics implemented so they can start next season at full tilt
I'm still pissed off with that result and performance, easily our worst display of the season, given we were 2-0 up. I know we all love an excuse on here, but we've got Mings, Torres, Tielemans, Buendia and Traore injured, and Public (well, Tottenham) Enemy No 1 Cash and Kamara suspended. Ramsey hasn't been the same since returning from injury either.

That said, beat Burnley at home on Saturday and we can go level on points with Liverpool, so don't count us out just yet. That was our first defeat in 11.

It was a poor 45 minutes but you’ve been brilliant all season and I wouldn’t worry about that result. You’ve got a load of players missing as you rightly say.

Yes, Spurs were well beaten, though I still enjoyed the effort being put in until the final whistle. Almost had Brighton getting nervous towards the end there.

    Premier League 2023-24

Liverpool finishing the year top of the table with the best defensive record in the league as well as the best goal difference.

Not bad for a team with a right back that can’t defend. A centre half that is finished and no midfield.

Oh and 3 games with red cards and 4 apologies off PGMOL for errors.

Can't say West Ham don't deserve this. Great defending. How on earth did they lose 5-0 at Fulham?

It was the perfect away performance from West Ham. It’s so hard mentally and physically to be that organised and disciplined for 95 minutes.

Embarrassing from Arsenal, no urgency at all just passing around for the sake of it. Ball looked out for the first goal. Highlights again the need for a decent striker

I’ll be lying alone in a dark room during the game on New Years Day. I predict a proper battering.

To be fair we hammered West Ham in the 'make pretty patterns in midfield' stats.

And in the ‘try to score the perfect goal’ and ‘make 50 passes when five will do’ stats.

Oh well, little West Ham do over mighty Arsenal in their own back yard and go up to 6th. Missed a pen as well - who'd have thought it?

That will give the gormless "Moyes out" brigade something to think about.

Also I noticed that West Ham have the second best form over the last 5 games in the league ( 4 wins and a loss). Far better than the teams above us.

Bournemouth have the best recent form with 4 wins and a draw.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

I can’t understand the Moyes Out people, I just don’t get it. West Ham are winning games by being effective when they have the ball. Wolfie will tell you that’s exactly what Leicester did in 2016.

Arsenal fan on the radio saying he wants Watkins. Gone are the days someone like that leaves Villa for Arsenal, especially as they have an elite coach, unlike old Lego hair.

IMHO Watkins isn't a big improvement on what Arsenal already have. The problem is the truly elite strikers will cost so much money and their clubs be so reluctant to sell that economics is an issue. Watkins isn't in the elite category.

Arsenal's problem was that for all their possession they didn't create many clear cut chances and that's what they need to work on. Create more shots on goal instead of spraying the ball left and right but rarely towards goal. Where they are suffering is the poor recent form of Martinelli who used to provide a real cutting edge, beating his man and getting the ball in from wide. Now he seems to have the 1st touch of a race horse. His replacement Trossard is also out of form and then off the bench Nelson and Smith-Rowe aren't good enough. We also missed Kai Havertz for the longer ball option.

I don't think we will land a new forward this winter. Toney would be a better option than Watkins as he is better in the air (honestly I'd much rather have Jesus than Watkins) and the aerial route wasn't really available to us last night. Had Arsenal scored 1st when they were all over West Ham at the start then it forces West Ham to come out but of course West Ham score 1st, play a low block brilliantly and there it is, tactics worked spot on.

Anyway despite the loss still 2nd, so not a disaster.

Pep was quoted last week on being disappointed not to have won it . He obviously wanted six trophies . We should’ve just been able to play our Academy team instead .

    .
To many West Ham followers it's not the West Ham way - the academy of football.

However I've been a supporter long enough to remember when we had teams of great players who pinged it about but were always flirting with relegation.

I prefer it the Moyes way TBH.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Not PL but in the Scottish Championship, due to injuries and illness Arbroath had to play their goalkeeper as a striker. He went ahead and scored an absolute screamer from 30 yards!

Arsenal currently 10 points worse off than after the same number of games played last season.

Pressure coming for Arteta? Man City have basically been as bad as it is possible for them to have been and are now basically 2 points off top spot with Haaland to come back in as well as a certain Belgian midfield player returning from injury who apparently is pretty handy.....
