    Coronation Tailor

Coronation Tailors : Fit for a king

If you missed this on BBC 2 this week it is available on iPlayer .
It is a one hour in length behind the scenes informative documentary ( well informative programme ).
If you are into history , tradition and what makes this country unique in so many ways you will enjoy this programme , as well as seeing some amazing practical skills ,and craftsmanship without a computer or computer programme in sight .
There are also a couple of interesting watches as well to look out for .
    Enjoy

I noticed the watch of the guy that runs the firm. Making uniforms is obviously good business.

Can anyone identify the watch the son of the owner is wearing ?
I do hope all those box files and ring binders full of details are backed up somewhere ( or at least store in a fire proof safe ! )
The Helmet maker is a real craftsman and a genius .

A really good programme. Not a word of bullshit throughout, which, for most TV, is amazing.

The programme displayed a manufacturing company in need of modernisation and, possibly, over-reliant on MoD contracts.

It's funny, I've seen the company name, Kashket, around, probably on various labels. I have a sneaking suspiscion they made my mess kit but that's long gone. A wonderful way to spend an hour.

Yes - everybody needs more management consultants.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Yes it was an excellent programme that showed that craftsmanship is alive and well but as stated above, you have to worry about their sustainability in the 21st Century especially when the key craftsmen retire!

Fascinating programme, yet rather shocked 100’s of years of military uniform protocol kept in a bunch of leaver arch files!

    Wasn’t it a brilliant watch.
The helmet maker on Coronation Day…
    “ I made that,
    And that,
    And that…” etc

Marvellous telly. Thanks for sharing Norbert,
I’d probably have missed it otherwise.

Yes I'm sure a more modern company could knock them out cheaper and quicker, perhaps outsource some items from the Far East, and get some decent middle management in with more inclusive systems.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
