Another comic genius bites the dust.
As Dame Edna you'll never be forgotten..

The unforgettable Sir Les Patterson ...
Sad news. RIP Edna.
One of the funniest characters ever created. Over 50 years of material! Genius gone.

He was also the voice of Bruce, the shark in Finding Nemo. One of the funniest scenes in animated movies.
RIP.
Ah, sad to hear that one.

Skating away on the thin ice of a new day
No! This is the first I have heard of it.
Bu99er! He was one of my all time favourites
the look of terror in the eyes of any ‘celebs’ he had on his shows was a joy to behold.
Fantastic comic and by all accounts a genuinely nice bloke.
RIP
Ah no, really sad to hear this. I did hear that he was ill a few days ago so I did wonder if his time was up. An absolutely brilliant man.
I well remember the first time I ever saw Dame Edna on television. Must have been about 1978. She offered her guests a suggestive dish composed mainly of an upright banana accompanied by two cherries, and later sang a song about British spunk. "Spunk, spunk, spunk, you're so full of British spunk", it went.
My dad was convinced she was a woman in real life; an actual Dame no less.
Brilliant in The Hobbit too.
They will forever be point-see-ettas to my family.
I feared this when I read of his problems a short while ago. RIP. Sir Les is my favourite, and here he is in classic form.
F.T.F.A.
I'd heard a few days back he was suffering complications from surgery, last night we played some You Tube videos of Dame Edna and Les Patterson. Such a comic genius.
RIP Mr Humphries.
Brilliant characterisations and superb wit - one of the best.
Another sad loss, RIP.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
A sad loss to the comedy world. It's hard to believe he created Dame Edna in the 1950s and was able to keep her funny and relevant for nearly 70 years.
It was only last week I watched a segment with him and Rick Stein in Cornwall and I thought he was looking good and still sharp for his age.
RIP the Monee Ponds housewife.
What a shame - comic genius.
Loved him as Sir Les.
RIP.
Cheers,
Neil.
Great comedian, wonderful and charming characters.
RIP Barry. A very funny man.

RIP Barry, Les, and Edna. One of the greats
Dame Edna always reminded me of some of my aunts. Cheers Barry!

As good a place to ask as any, but can anyone find the Les Patterson gag where he wanders into a legit massage parlour thinking it's a rub'n'tug shop? I've been searching for it for years!
A comic genius that regularly had me in real tears of laughter. His timing and facial expressions got me every time. A sad loss.
Sad loss of another comic genius, RIP Barry

As wonderful as the Dame was, Sir Les Patterson was the true cultural attaché

RIP Sir Les.
A cultural attaché of the highest order. Our world is a bit more bereft as a result.
So many laughs over so many years...
Truly a sad loss.
RIP Barry. We all enjoyed Edna and Les.
I had Les Patterson Saves the World on VHS - you couldn't make a movie like that anymore.
