New Tag Heuer video - brilliant!

Love it when watch companies are a little less up themselves and come out with something fun, check this out

I thought it was great & Gosling seems to be doing well as an ambassador for the brand.

Noted on the TH Forum, some additional info:

When it comes to hidden Easter eggs cropping up throughout the film, Leitch is “happy to leave that to the fans that love to scour” but Gosling can’t help but drop a few hints for everyone to look out for.

First of all, he’s wearing the latest version of the Carrera Chronograph. “I think it's beautiful. The 39 millimeter is just the perfect size, and could work for everybody, and the new glass box is a really nice touch and just very elegant,” he says before moving on to Easter egg no.2. “They created this beautiful Art Deco hotel facade in the ad and called it Leonarda, which was Jack Heuer’s wife's name so there was a lot of love and care put into this from the TAG Heuer team and they had a lot of fun making it too. As an aside, it's been really great working with them,” Gosling says. “They're so agile creatively. They've found a way to make every campaign that we do match the tone and aesthetic in some way to whatever the film is that I'm making at the time.

Also good to spot the Monaco calibre 11, pink Carrera and the Monaco Dark Lord

I was expecting to type a hate-reply, but that was genuinely a laugh without being too cringe-inducing. Sod it, I'll say it, it was good and I enjoyed it!

Felt like it was the start of a mini-series of hijinks with Gosling being chased for the watch, that could have been neat, but then I'm not a creative at all. What do I know!

Great stuff, a refreshing change to the usual stuffy marketing.

Wow they have blown some marketing budget on that !!

Very good though, really enjoyed it.

The Carrera model, whilst not quite that good, is a solid release by Tag Heuer as is the reverse panda version.

We need more adverts like that one.

Agree, ads like that will change how we feel about a brand. And not only their brand, but it suddenly makes most other Swiss watch brands feel bit boring.

That would be a perfect ad at the Cinema prior to any Gosling film and for some reason I now feel like watching 'Drive' again... Thanks OP.

Great advert:) I didn’t notice the Monaco until I watched it again after reading your comment. Love the other Easter Eggs that you pointed out too. It does indeed make one realise how watch manufacturers need to get their heads out of their arses and have some fun.

Great advert and a lovely watch. Certainly injects some much needed frivolity into a world of serious watches and serious waiting lists.

Makes everything else seem a bit boring.

Even the car is special. The exterior driving shots show a Porsche 911 (930) Turbo S - a very rare model that came from the factory with RUF alloys, an RSR style front spoiler that hides the bigger oil cooler and an uprated engine. Harry Metcalfe has one and it’s featured a lot on his Harry’s Garage YouTube channel. When they cut to the studio while the props master is on the roof, you can see that the car is now a narrow body Carrera Sport with polished Fuchs alloys.

    Excellent.

Watch marketing has somnambulated into such a staid, dour, self-important framing. Nice to see Tag Heuer going in this direction - feels like they could be out in front of something here….

  28. #28
    That was enormously enjoyable.

I think they've done a good job. Breilting's "Hollywood Squad" marketing and Tudor using David Beckham do absolutely nothing for me but this does actually sell that Carerra pretty well.

And not just a great watch advert but it’s reintroduced me to the cracking tune ‘Red Light Spells Danger’ from Billy Ocean….was singing away to it in the car this morning.

Its a bit meta but good fun , also strangely accurate depiction of the rather "snarky" environment of film shoots.
Looks to have been shot at WB in LA judging by the water tower however some of it looked a lot like Leavesden in the UK and the driving stuff looked suspiciously like the streets near to Leavesden in the UK.

I occasionally have my calibre 11 on film sets with this sort of shenanigans happening , I'm assuming most of the crew shown are the actual crew who shot the advert , a fake crew made up of actors wouldn't be as ugly and badly dressed I suspect or convey the bored irritability of a film crew quite so well.

Love the watch and enjoyed the film so much that I streamed it to my tellie for the big screen experience. Mrs Y Cymro settled down with the pop corn and was a bit disappointed that it didn’t last another 90 mins.
    Thanks for the link
