    EBay 80% off fees?!

Not had the offer for over 5 weeks.
Has anyone had the offer recently?

Yep last week for moi too, and two weeks prior was the even better £1 sales promotion.

And no I don't sell much and the last was a couple years ago, so it's all a bit random.

  7. #7
Every two weeks this year i`ve got the offer, shame i haven`t been selling much to take advantage of it!

Had it Friday. I think it's based on user rather than date?

I used to get the offer every other week on a Friday.
This has lasted months and months.
    Then suddenly stopped.

Same thing has happened to a mate.

The only offer I've had in the past 12 months is for a reduction in "targeted sale" fees - like these daft ad campaigns they supposedly run.

Not had the £1 fees offer for years. When I do get the promo it's only 70% off.

I had an 80% one a couple of weeks ago. I used to get a £1 offer every couple of weeks for years till I sold a couple of watches then they stopped.

Just took advantage of 80% discount offer last week and sold two items. Previous offer of same discount was a month ago when I also moved some items on. I do donate a % to charity which may be pertinent in getting the offers fairly regularly.

If it doesn’t sell first time ie: one week, and they automatically relist it then you pay full fees if it does sell then.

    One week?

    I believe it’s a month or 30 days.

True, if it relists after an unsuccessful attempt at sale, then the offer isn’t valid.

As above, it depends on whether you list in auction format or BIN either way the sale period ends and it automatically relists at the standard rate.

I last had the 80% offer a couple of months ago but had the £1 offer two weeks ago so I’m really not sure what is going on with it

The re-listing is optional. There is a tick box to opt in/out.

    Very weird.

Next time it may be worth checking the promotion on your selling page. It will show you how many items you’ve listed which have used it. It will list the listing ID of those items so you can therefore be 100% sure before the sale. I always do this after creating a listing.

I don’t use it often but when I do I do try to use the offer.

Also, if you edit the listing, it reverts to full fees. So creating a listing as a place holder for later doesn’t work either.

I list all my items as a fixed price listing and do get 30 days at 80% off, rather than a week as an auction.

Aah that could be it, after a couple of days I reduced the BIN price by £20.

I’ve seen an 80% off and £1 FVF offer show up on Hot UK Deals. Search the site for eBay and they are on the first page. Offers seem to start tomorrow and can’t be activated yet.

Friday normally yes, I usually get an 80% offer every other, hoping one arrives tomorrow.
I asked now because the offer that was kindly linked to on this thread recently was mid week and was pre-activated for the weekend by clicking and accepting it.
Hadn't thought of checking Hot UK Deals, will do that now, cheers.

The offer has now come up on my eBay page, and I can confirm that the Hot UK Deals link works as when I pressed 'activate offer' it stated I had already accepted it. :)

I haven't had the £1 offer for a couple of years, but 80% is fine (£1 better).

No, I think because it’s Christmas so they have a high volume of people selling stuff they have upgraded, so don’t want to do the 80% I usually get it every 2 weeks but haven’t had one since start of Dec

I got 70% off a couple of weeks ago. Usually the promo comes on Saturday but bear in mind when it comes it is often because they expect a lower number of sellers.

Unless you are one of those people who lists with a fixed price as opposed to doing it the 'proper' way with an auction then it may be worth forgoing the discount selling fees in return for a higher final bid price

Makes sense. I normally get one every fortnight and last weekend one would have been due but didn't, I assumed because of new years eve. I was hoping one would come this weekend but nothing yet.

I've had 80% off every fortnight for a long time now Ryan and it always comes on a Friday.
I'm not sure what your second paragraph means sorry, the discount I get is on the final sale price whether auction, or fixed price listing. Makes no difference, 80% off the final sale price whichever. The vast majority of my listings are auction, mainly to control when they end so only one day packing and posting (assuming everyone pays fairly promptly).

What he meant was that if it’s a “slow” period for ebay then your price may not achieve the heights it would when there ate more punters.

Obviously it won't, still doesn't differentiate between auction and buy it now.
