    New Seiko GMT

A lot to like about this SPB381

£2k is a bit string though

This suggests pretty sensible pricing at €1,700 & €1,900 for the LE, although I'll probably still wait for used models to go on sale.

It's only the wonky date display that I don't like. Apart from that I think they look great.

    Nice alternative to an MM300

I quite like the watch, particularly the Save The Ocean model.

I’m not so keen on the price though.

6R based movement so basically a MM200 with a GMT hand and twice the price.

    Optimistic to say the least.

I was referring more to the looks than the movement.

that is a matter of opinion, its abit expensive for what it is.
i think they are trying too hard.
might as well throw in a chrono movement and moon-phase too.

I am not really seeing the attraction of this one.
The MM has a few special features that set it aside from other Prospex
This is standard fair that looks a little like the MM but the movement is unspectacular, as is the case. It’s kind of vanilla.

Seiko boutique has the non-LE at £1,400 and the LE at £1,600

I have to say I like it, particularly the green version. I don't think it's too extravagantly priced for a nicely finished GMT with ceramic bezel.

Finally, Seiko gets close to the perfect travel watch specification.
Love it, provided the lower end price estimate is closest to the real one.
I hope the bezel lume is not just the pip, but the numerals too.

Edit - lume is pip only I see, and also that the boutique pricing above is correct

Office type GMT it seems, though, rather than travel type.

Ah - I'm out. Unusual for Seiko, every one of their other GMT movements is traveller-type

Cool idea, poorly executed. I really like (and own) an MM200. The only think I don’t like on my SPB207 is the gold seconds hand which looks cheap, and weaker lume application compared to seikos from 10 years ago.

This is roughly the same thing, with the same problems but 50% more money. Granted a GMT complication has been added but the use of colour could be better.

I agree however the "office" GMT sadly means it is not really for travel. A real pity as a true travel dive watch (given a jumping hour hand for international travel) would great.
I would buy one in an instant if it were a "flyer" GMT.
I just bought the Hodinkee "flyer" GMT for $1,400, so the movement can be done in this price range.

I love the Seiko brand but would not consider paying £2k for one (except a nice 62MAS). Can you imagine how your non-watch mates would respond?

They'd assume it cost £200 and I'd have no reason to correct them.

Don't worry. The better-engineered San Martin version will be along soon at 12% of the price.

Probably the same module as on the 4r34 which is also an office gmt.
