    Introduction post

    Hello all,

Happy to be aboard. Thank you Mr. Platts for allowing me to join.

    My name is Jeremiah.

I love watches and love Smith watches especially. I am a middle school science teacher. I currently wear a Timor heritage repro with a AF 0210 strap which is fantastic. I recently purchased second hand a Smiths PRS29A with an ETA2804 made in 2013. From talking with Eddie, this was due to not being able to source the 2801s that year. So, I am happy to put up with the "phantom date" because I much prefer the acrylic dome and the dial face of the older version of the the 29A.

Do any of you possess this version made in 2013? Have you taken the date complications out or left them in? I think one day I'd probably do so unless it was cheaper to just throw in a new movement when this one gets to that point. I paid a bit more than asking price on the store and probably some other places but I really wanted one so sold two other watches I never wear to add some funds. I'll enjoy sharing wrist time with the Timor when the 29A arrives.

I have enjoyed reading through threads here and you all seem like a swell bunch.

    Welcome aboard.
It would be good to see a photo of your watches.

Was anyone here to see it (other than Mssrs Frazier, Crowley, and Platts)? I need to go and hunt it out.

Welcome OP! I'm assuming your username in part references the lure of "the one" (grail watch), and not just your taste in Swedish progressive rock. [The lack of apostrophe would always gnaw at me!]

Welcome to the forum OP, it's refreshing to see someone take the time to do this nowadays. 20 years Neil, where did it go! I only had one watch when I came here to ask advice on buying a watch for work!

Thank you for all the warm welcomes.

I'll upload a pic of the Timor Heritage with the AF0120 strap.

I also ordered a nato 6B/2617 strap for the PRS29A.

I do fish, I usually look at what is buzzing around when the fish are rising. I also work summers driving a shuttle in Glacier National Park. I'll upload a pic or two of some big horn rams I see there often.

Happy again to be a part of the crew here.

I gave Eddie the details and he opened up registration for me using those. Yeah, I should have had an apostrophe. Not sure if I can change it now though. Our family are Tolkien fans to say the least.

Sorry. I have to learn how to upload pics here.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the Timor - I'm very fond of mine.

I agree - it seems ever such a long time since someone did an intro post.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Thanks again. Happy to be here.

Well the watch came and I ran home during lunch and grabbed it.

    Here it is.

Welcome Jeremiah. As you like the Timefactors Smiths watches you may enjoy a quick google to find out about the history of the original Smiths brand too.

    Here’s some starter reading:

Thanks for the link. The original is actually what got me interested in the Smiths version to begin with. Last summer I started searching for the best repro of the w10 in particular. Love the Dirty dozen as well, and my opinion is the Timor Heritage mechanical field is the best repro of one of those.

I haven’t seen these before. Nice looking watch.

I seem to renter reading that Eddie is bringing out a dirty dozen version of the Everest. Take a look on the Timefactors forum. There again, I could have confused it with the many other models he’s introducing.

    Welcome J,

Always refreshing to see new joiners with good taste and not the usual "how much shall I ask for my Rolex?" intros.

Have fun and hold on to your wallet, it may want to spill out cash faster than you ever imagined..

    Greetings form sunny Zürich
