It still looks like a block of flats and I owned one, in in 1981, I put a six into one on it, best sounding bike I ever owned,
For the motorbike fans:
If you had the indoor space and setting – and permission from your other half……………………
What ONE bike would you have as your polished-up Object d’art inside the house?
I’ve had the benefit of giving it a bit of thought – and would plump for:
The Honda CBX1000 – 6cyl……………………. (the engine would do it - on its own)
[EDIT - post a photo to illustrate, otherwise it can be meaningless)

The original Z1.
Not as curvy or stylish as some of the Italian candidates, think MV F4 and numerous Ducati's, but it just captures a moment in time for me.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
The problem I would have is not so much the missus, and I suppose money is no object in this. No, I have a dilemma because the bikes I am thinking of would live a happier life if ridden rather than displayed.
So, a BS SS100, a Vincent Rapide or Black Shadow, a fastback 850 Commando, a Triumph T 100 Tiger, a Victoria Bergmeister, a WL HD, a Ducati 900SS

I sold my Norton commando cafe racer on here to a fellow TZer. I delivered it, and it was wheeeed straight inside the house to be house art.
Imo the CBX is a lovely bike, but not beautiful enough to have as art in the house.

Think of it like your bike insurance declaration.....................
1967 ish Honda CB750, it was a game changer
As was the first Suzuki GT 250
And of course Ducati 916
A nice Triton, something like this...

RC30
Or more likely the Bimota Suoermono. It was a beautiful bike to look at but poor to ride apparently.
Mid 70s CB750 with custom bars and LOUD straws.
Good thread Al!

This was my other Norton. real motorcycle art!
Just to look at it would be this 1150cc 1956 Vincent Norvin, albeit with correct clip-ons.
Simply classic and understated.

For inside the house, a Cagiva V594

or a Ducati desmosedici

It's just a matter of time...
Great thread and most of the above are pieces of art - which is an entirely different prospect to what we might choose to ride.
My personal desires as formed in my riding years would choose a Suzuki GSX 1400 in blue and white or a Mk1 Ducati Monster with the obligatory Termignoni pipes. I would also need to occasionally start it up for a few blips of the throttle too.
And how many of these were actually hung on walls?
Picture from the web, that’s not actually me and my cat.
Ducati seems to be a popular choice. I recall the house in Brighton that also had one.

Yes that’s right. Garner at norton liked it so much he commissioned 50 of them. I bought one of them. Twitchy bum time though as you pays the £19k up front and then wait for it to be built…my build slot was coming up just as Norton’s financial woes came to light. Luckily I still got mine so no issues but others weren’t as lucky. It was all handmade aluminium tank and tail, changes to foot pegs, bars, mudguards. Rumour was norton made a loss on every one of these as they really underestimated the modification costs.
Had a sp1 for many many years. Would love to have one in the living room one day.
My 2003 VRod - better to look at than to ride
Wouldn’t need so much polishing if it never got wet!

When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Fastline bikes in Preston had one of these in the window back in 2016. It was £125k , I remember reading the Iridium screen was £1600 to replace. Then one day I walked past ( it was on my lunch stroll route) and the price had been revised………….£135k
If you do a google search for Fastline the three year old archieve shot shows it still in the window!
And! google street view still shows it in the window, I bet that window had to be cleaned weekly to remove the dribble from the window lickers like me :)

^^^^ 2 Conrods per piston IIRC😎
Never owned a Ducati, but I'd probably go for a V4 Superleggera

Wanted - Damasko DC57
Quite fancy one of these, and living in warmer climes to enjoy it...
Joey Dunlop's SP1.
It does indeed. I can’t remember exactly but I think it was discounted from £60k to around £35k and it was brand new. You’d have to be a very well heeled art lover to stick that in your living room. I’d be no good as I wouldn’t be able to resist a Friday blast to the office, and it’d soon be covered in salt and road dirt.
My biking days are behind me I fear, but I would have another Bonnie in a trice . Not sure whether her indoors would let me keep it... indoors - but would give it a shot.
A T120 was my sole mode of transport during my 1st year at Uni. Naffing freezing cold in the winter, but 100% reliable and only dropped 3 drops of oil after a long run. Bought for £300 and sold a year or so later for £350 and I thought I did well.
Hey ho.
'Tempted to buy a T140 jubilee for less than the price of an average Sub.

Garelli Tiger Cross
Purely for what it represents for me….freedom.
Life changing for a 16 year old, finally escaping a school I hated, a long and miserable bus ride from home, and starting a BT apprenticeship. Bought the Tiger Cross on hp as soon as I had a payslip to prove I could pay for it. Had bikes ever since, but that little Garelli was the start.

This is in my living room....
Obviously my Ducati 916.
It's so long ago that I don't even have a digital picture of it.
