Rolex GMT BLRO - purchase of oyster bracelet from RSC

Hi, not sure if common knowledge but Rolex now allow jubilee GMT owners to purchase the oyster bracelet separately for their watch, which was previously not permitted. This week I visited RSC st James square to purchase and have fitted the Oyster bracelet with PCL. Not cheap at £1,600 but at least now have the best of both worlds.

That's really good of them to allow you to spend your own money.

I asked at st James sq last year for the oyster and was declined, but told i could do it the other way around. Pleased to hear I can now spend £1600! Mix and match on the way.

I think someone bought the jubilee bracelet for his pepsi and it was over 2K from RSJ
    Assuming the Oyster is cheaper.

Does anyone know whether the Oyster bracelet is interchangeable between BLNR and BLRO?

Ive got a 2002 GMT- the Oyster has seen better days, do Rolex supply the old ones too and allow you to retain your existing one?

You could probably take the strap off and go in asking for a new one to be sure they won’t retain yours.

I don’t think they do anyway on those but you could call and ask.

All credit to Rolex for allowing owners of their watches to purchase an alternative bracelet for £1600........what a magnanimous gesture!

I assume the issue here is more for 126710 watches purchased between March 2018 and March 2021 (when only available to buy new on the jubilee bracelet) - I fall into that camp with my late 2018 BLRO. As available new on either bracelet after March 2021, it seems natural that the additional bracelet would be an option for these models. I should really get my finger out though, bracelet prices are only going one way.

I'm assuming though that the 126710 BLRO bracelet will not fit the previous 116710 version of the BLNR (more's the pity, as that would give me more options).

Rolex do allow you to purchase the oyster, even if your GMT is pre March 2021.

About 12 months ago, i bought a Jubilee bracelet from Rolex for my 2000 Pepsi (about £950).
I wasn't asked to return the original Oyster bracelet.

They wouldn't let me buy a non riveted Oyster bracelet for my Black Bay 41mm despite it fitting. When they found out what I wanted it for they changed their minds & refused the sale.

Yup...sometimes I have difficulty believing my eyes reading this forum! And that's without raising the question of how a steel bracelet can possibly cost £1600 to make!

£950! for a brand new bracelet from Rolex - much better than I had bought it would be.

This is the whole purpose of the thread, to advise that Rolex now permit jubilee fitted 126710’s to have the oyster bracelet bought separately. I have done this for my March 2021 jubilee BLRO (bought before the oyster bracelet version was released).

Can apply the same logic to any luxury product…in that there js no connection between the price and the material cost of the goods.

AND allowing you to keep the old bracelet that you paid for and own! What kind-hearted generosity! No wonder Hans Wilsdorf Foundation is a charity!

They advised that stock is low so best call before turning up. Also, incase you were thinking it’ll be a quick pop in it took them 40 mins (10 mins waiting to be seen then 30mins to fit the bracelet)!

    Noted!

Yes I remember taking my old Explorer II in for a quick adjustment when I picked up from a forum member. I vaguely remember waiting and offered a Rolex Chocolate!!

You have to walk in on a carpet of gold filings, walking over the downtrodden, preceded by your chauffeur and man-servant, waiving your gold Amex.

[Just saying what'd I'd do - never been - only visited London once 20 years ago.]

    Err.. no.

The photos show end prices and clasp, but it’s Rolex so I’m expecting each part to be extra.

Unfortunately not, although from memory it can be done with the older jubilee plus a bit of fettling.

Thanks Tony! I'll look into that. [Although I'll focus on the newer one first, I'm keener to get the BLRO on an oyster than the BLNR on a jubilee.]

    Yes, all in.

I was originally told that it was £1700+VAT but on collection it was all in.

Is it a stupid amount of money for a piece of steel? Yes, of course it is. But it's all relative to our hobby.

The way I see it... If i hadn't have bought the Jubilee I wouldn't have enjoyed wearing the watch as I can't stand the PCL's of the oyster. It would have sat in the safe and others would have taken preference.
I could sell the oyster for what, £1200? So then (to me) the Jubilee would be a £500 purchase instead.

But I won't be selling it; I'll be getting it brushed.

Might be worth amending that post where you said it was £2K (or quoted £2k)
I had taken that info as correct.

If you can link it I'll amend it.

Just for reference, my Skydweller jubilee cost me £1400 yesterday. All in. It’s a wider bracelet than the Pepsis too.

Just to add to this, the Oyster bracelet from a 116610LN Submariner also fits the current GMT BLRO.

This gives the advantages of a) no PCLs and b) glidelock clasp.

If the bracelet on the old sub fits it then the new one definitely will not, as they increased the bracelet width as well as the case diameter. It's now 21mm I believe.

Old sub, as in the last 20mm lug width ceramic one does.

See rolexdiver on instagram, the brushed non pcl looks so much nicer I think.

Ok appears it’s been a while since he posted it ! https://www.instagram.com/p/COmgeY0l...d=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

I think for the GMTs the bracelet needs to be from a 40mm Sub.

I’ve had a 40mm Sub bracelet on my old BLNR and it fit perfectly but I couldn’t leave it on due to OCD.

Do you have a code for that bracelet, and is it a straight swap for the stainless oyster? I could do with ordering one
