Not many new watches lasted more than a week, only kept 2 of them, 2022 was the year I discovered expensive Seikos, so my favourite watch of the year is the GS, although still not my favourite watch of my collection

Thanks. My first Corum and I'm really impressed with the quality of the finishing. Reasonably slim too so it sits nicely on the wrist.

Very nice! I think my OQ was a consolation prize for not having a blue dial DJ like this.

Of course mine is going to have to be my personalised Dornblüth 99.1M even though I’ve had it a week

I’ve also had a Sinn 144 and CWC RN 300 diver this year, and am delighted with both.

The CWC needs an honorary mention, for despite its modest cost, it’s a delight to wear, I wear it much of the time, and it’s threatening a more expensive diver in my collection.

It’s been an odd year for me, having problems deciding what exactly to add.
I set out to get a Tudor FXD, Pam 00111 and a Speedmaster 57 Replica, but for various reasons hesitated on a couple, talked myself out of another and ended up with none of the above.

I ended the year with no outgoings and three new additions:

This as a grab and go:

This was an impulse buy and one that’s getting loads of use:

    But this is the favourite:

Looks great. What reference/size is it?

My favourite of 2022 and most expensive purchase, by a long way ....

The ex-Jean-Loup Chrétien space-flown prototype Yema Spationaute III, which he wore for the 1988 Aragatz mission to Mir.

It would have to be this. Had to sell two to make the numbers work but I feel it was worth it.

Seems to change every time a wear it.

That's a difficult decision to make as I like them all but, if pushed, for the sheer value for money, it would have to be the Helm Khuraburi - well worth the 20-month wait.

SBGV005 champagne dial. (Apparently one of the most involved standard dials to make taking 12 discreet steps) 40mm 44gs case at around 10mm thick and I think 19mm lug width. Very comfortable to wear.

What a fabulous Nato match. Actually elevates the BB58 imho.

A lot of comings and goings this year but this is probably my favourite. The IWC x Collective C.03 41mm Pilot's Chrono. Not sure if IWC will release a standard black dial variant of the 41mm steel Chrono but in the meantime, this is the only one, I think. I love the grey numerals on the black dial and the monochrome look without the red hand.

Thanks. I agree it's a great match. It's a single pass strap in Khaki/Barley from CNS.

This I think. It’s kind of made me re-evaluate what a watch is for and what I like in a watch.

Probably my 4420 Grand Seiko from 1966. I stick to a set maximum budget for my vintage Seiko purchases and a 44GS should be well outside of that. Put in a cheeky under budget bid on one that had some issues and was surprised to find I won it. The dial has some damage and the medallion was missing, but it still looks great on the wrist. Never thought I’d own one, so very happy with it.
Unfortunately no photos handy, but here’s a video documenting it’s recent service:
