    Quick battery question……………….

Can I use a Renata 395 instead of a 399 in my Omega Cal 1680 perpetual calendar.

Spec shows a 399 as the correct battery but have read others have used a 395.

Im asking the question as I have a 395 with me at home but no 399.

    Any input greatly received.
    Cheers,

    Ben

They are a similar size but I would wait until I could obtain and use the correct battery.

They are exactly the same size, one is a high drain battery (399) the other a low drain battery (395)

My thought is that the low drain (395) battery would be better as it suits a constant drain better than a high drain (399) which would suit a variable drain watch such as a digital with alarm/backlight which requires extra power on demand.

Just my take on the situation.
    Cheers,

    Ben

The difference is, 399 is designed for high drain watches like digital display, light up or extra complications. The 395 are meant for standard low drain use. they are interchangeable but may not last as long expected if you use the wrong one.
Some manufacturers (Energizer comes to mind) make dual drain silver oxide batteries that can safely be used in either situation.
