    Best value

What’s the best value obtainable luxury watch at the moment ? I would say a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms at 9.5 - 10k , opinions welcome .

Define "luxury" and "best value". They are difficult to define objectively, I think.

What do you like? Are you buying to wear or buying to invest? ;-)

I'd say that Maurice Lacroix, Baume & Mercier, Ulysse Nardin, Cartier, and Bulgari, off the top of my head, all have luxury watches that (as far as I know!) are easily available and offer, in my opinion, good value. Are they less luxurious than a FF? I don't know.

The usual. Omega, Zenith, JLC (for their movements), GS excetra - as above, define “luxury “ and “best value”

Anything you like that you can get a decent discount I would say. Anything that is going up in price has to be good value too!

If you are spending 9.5 to 10 and worry about value, the answer is always Rolex.

I’ve just bought a Smiths Caribbean off Eddie for less than £400 delivered and it has a WR of 1,000 meters. Incredible value I would say.

Not sure about luxury or what that means, I’m guessing the OP is drifting into watch snobbery there with only certain brands will cut the mustard.

I don't understand the question. How can 'value' and 'luxury' appear in the same sentence.

Isn't Luxury at least partly a state of mind...mainly you might say in the case of a stainless steel Rolex, not a criticism btw, clever chaps at Rolex HQ.

Luxury .. instead of utility .. I think most know the difference .. Value comes in play with every purchase .. Busines class .. Singapore as opposed to BA .. or Virgin ..
I was thinking of specific models not brands ..

Ok, specific models. In terms of the brands I mentioned above these are the models I was thinking about. None of them are likely to be purchased purely for utility.

Maurice Lacroix Aikon Venturer on bracelet
Baume & Mercier Riviera 10616 (with in house Baumatic BM13-1975A movement)
Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver (I think these might be discontinued so second hand only and no I'm not a Russian oligarch)
Cartier Santios XL (discontinued I think, but similar models still available?)
    Bulgari Octo Finissimo
    Bulgari Octo Roma

And because MartynJC (UK) reminded me about GS, pretty much any GS; they're all good.

I think all of the above offer high quality with good value.

Sure. It's entirely a question of how much you're willing to pay, surely, and to an extent what model you want.

I've noticed that older models are still available for less inflated prices. For example I like the platinum dial, red second hand Yachtmaster and this is still (or was when I last checked) available for sensible-ish money.

I think you are asking about brands, not watches.

From what I've seen, the vintage Rivieras are rather pleasing watches, albeit rather of-their-era.

The modern Rivieras, especially the models with the in house Baumatic automatic movement, really appeal to me too. I like the case shape a great deal. They might also be seen as of-their-era in a few years time but I don't mind; I like them anyway.

As Octos are mentioned, personally went for a Solotempo...more affordable then Finissimo, but similar look...which I prefer to Roma.
