    Rolex Authentication Belfast

Does anyone know of anywhere in Belfast that will can authenticate a Rolex?
My boss is after buying one but wants it authenticated and it's in Belfast.
He is willing to travel there to buy it but just wants assurance it's genuine.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Lunns has 2 branches in Belfast and are Rolex ADs. Not sure if they will authenticate but I believe they may have a Rolex approved chap who services Rolexes. There is also McNeillys jewellers in Belfast who sells pre-owned Rolexes and may be able to help.

With the elevated values of Rolex, buying used can be a minefield.

This has been postulated before, many times.

Why would any Rolex AD 'authenticate' a purchase which they have no connection to?

Another retailer who does insurance valuations may oblige (for a fee) - but with so many great fakes around - that might have limited value.

Lunns apparently won't authenticate but I'll pass on the McNeillys info.
Honestly, unless it's sent to a RSC I doubt it can really be authenticated but I said I would ask the question for him.

I’d try Pride and Pinion. They are big on YouTube and seem to turn over a lot of stock (mostly Rolex). I’m not sure if they have an authentication service and I haven’t used them before but I’m sure they could do it at a price.

Jewellers and experts have always offered the service of insurance valuation (for a fee, of course).
This would surely include an expert opinion of authenticity

I think he's going to buy it so I'll pass on the Pride and Pinion info. Thank you for the suggestions.

I have both lectured the UK’s leading valuers and regularly done (and continue to do) work with insurance companies and police.

I regret to tell you that perhaps 80% or more of valuations on Rolex watches are carried out by people who are not qualified (although they may believe otherwise) competently to try to authenticate the parts of a Rolex watch.

Just say you'll pay for service by Rolex and buy it if they service it.

Failing that, if it's a bricks and mortar place you think will refund you if it's wrong, tell them you will have it serviced by Rolex as soon as you buy it.

Either way it's serviced and a good start to ownership.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

I was in Lunn's the other day getting a new bracelet for my 1680 and they took the watch head away to the watchmaker before they would agree to sell one to me, so I assume they had a nosey then.
