WD40?
I'm hoping to tap into the collective knowledge here please.
The outlaws have used some form of sellotape to act as a draft excluder to seal a couple of windows. I'm round doing a few jobs and one of these is to clean the windows - UPVC by the way.
Well the residue from this isn't shifting with fairy liquid a microfibre and plenty of elbow grease. As they're UPVC apparently I can't use white spirit or meths but IPA should be safe on UPVC.
Can anyone advise if IPA will remove tape residue or is there anything else I can use that's safe on UPVC but doesn't involve my arm falling off
TIA

Am I the only one who opened the thread wondering how you clean India Pale Ale?

I know it sounds daft, but try fabric softener 😁
I just went and tested my IPA swabs on some sticky tape reside on my glass window (actually on the glass) and it removed the gum very easily.

IPA will be fine
Unless the upvc has been painted then you can use some spirit based cleaned. Cif is also OK. But wd40 will remove sticky residue. Do a a small test area first whatever you use.
White spirit will be OK. If the tape has left any discolouration use T cut followed by car polish to bring it back to a nice finish.
Thought I'd update the thread. I bought some IPA and it's removed the gunk a treat. Thanks for the tip about the car polish. I'll have a look later in the week to see what they're like and if they need any further attention.

just to add….
Most hand sanitizers are 70% IPA
We made hundreds of litres of sanitizer for the refinery workforce in our product testing labs on site.
They do a good job of removing sticky stuff.
I've only just twigged what the OP meant by IPA. Isopropyl alcohol is one of my 'go to' cleaning agents.
I was about to suggest the other two, De.Solv.it and Lighter Fluid, when I read that he has solved the problem.
Solvent UPVC cleaner is designed for the job. Pick a bottle up from your local trade supplier. Smells like pear drops.
I had exactly this problem recently and WD40 and a lot of elbow grease did the job nicely.
Soapy water to remove the WD40 after.
