So a toss up between a large pretend secret agents watch with a meaningless broadarrow and a dial that looks water damaged, and a classic looking diver in a classic/small size each at totally different price points?
Neither for me, although I’ve tried the BB58 on my 8 3/4 inch wrists and it looked a bit lost, the Omega would probably wear ok size wise but I just couldn’t walk about wearing something so naff. It would look ok probably, but I’d know it’s a childish marketing version of the standard watch. Much as I’m no fan of the David Beckham marketing of Tudor, I think Omega’s special agent/Spaceman links are wearing a bit thin for the grown-ups amongst us!

The Omega, because it's titanium and I have a hankering to try a titanium watch.

I've had two of the BB58 and thought they looked too small on my 7" wrist. I also found the gilt a bit too bling.

Although to be fair I'm also not into aged lume.

Tudor for me, I’m really not a fan of the bracelet on the Omega.

Omega. Lovely but very expensive for what it is, but then when did that ever apply to watch logic...?

I made a mistake, I thought it was the same thickness as the standard Seamaster (13.5mm) but it is a bit thinner at 13.15mm (that is not listed in the specs on the Omega site that I could find). Even so, at 13.15mm it is too thick for my tastes. Since I don't like the bracelet I would have to have the nato version and with that added thickness the watch would likely sit higher than my 13.7mm thick Hanhart chronograph. I get why chronographs are a bit chunky but I don't understand why divers need to be that thick. The 2254.50 was a 300M watch and 11.7mm thick.

I know a mm or two here and there seems like a small amount but everyone has a tipping point and for me the current Omega Seamasters have passed it. A cheaper watch - under $1000 - I might forgive a bit size wise but at Omega prices the watch has to be a perfect fit for me justify the high cost.

I know it is splitting hair but in reality it is more like 12.99 mm. It really is not a big or a tall watch at all.

In fairness the standard Seamaster is a big watch at 42mm and it is, imo, just a touch too thick. I've just traded my standard 300M because of these reasons (for a Speedy no less which may sound mad considering the Speedy is also 42mm and actually thicker than the Seamaster but it doesn't look or feel anywhere near as big due to the stepped case design).

Anyway this NTTD edition Seamaster is only a fraction slimmer than the standard SMP but it may be enough in the right areas to slim it to an acceptable level so it doesn't feel too tall. I always felt the domed crystal on the standard Seamaster didn't help but the NTTD version is flat I think and with a fraction thinner case profile it may be enough to make it wear 'slim enough'. I still wouldn't buy it though.

That omega is very nice in the metal, if you can get it for BB58 money then it’s a no brainer.

I voted BB58 but ultimately it's what you like that's important. That looks great tbf. Enjoy!

An Omega Vs Tudor thread that actually ends in purchase? Saints2014 will be livid! Congrats on the watch.

Not the Omega - they messed Eddie about with the Broadarrow mark years ago, and the mesh looks terrible compared to what they were making in the 70s

Did you pay full price? And did the watch roll come with it?

I think the watch roll is the packaging for this watch?

Must admit, it looks better in real life compared to renderings.

A quick google and I see It is. I far prefer it to a ruddy big box.

I like it and would buy one, but not at £7k.

It would need to be around £4k for me.

Agreed, the renderings doing nothing for the watch at all.

What’s with the holes in the mesh?? - I assumed this was a standard mesh, not one with tang holes for the buckle?

I would never consider the Tudor as to me it’s far too small.

I was genuinely horrified to discover that the rrp on the NTTD Seamaster is almost £8k. If I was in the market for an 8 grand Omega then I would be looking to spend a little more for either the Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 or a Speedmaster Moonphase - either of which I would consider to be a far better value proposition.

Well done OP. I generally don't like the current Seamasters but everything in that model including the colours and the mesh somehow gel to a modern whole.

Not a fan of the mesh bracelet, would have to be the Tudor!
