    This or That

Here's an interesting one. If you could pick the No Time to Die Omega with a very good discount or the Black Bay 58 Black Dial which one would you go for?

Isn’t the Omega nearly three times the price of the Tudor? It’s not exactly a like for like comparison, is it?

It's like comparing an apple with a pear that is a third of the cost of the apple.

Tried on the Omega once and it looks great irl - very light as well.

  6. #6
If I could get a 65% discount on the omega, so that they were of a similar price, I would get that, sell it at a profit, buy the black bay and put the leftover cash towards something else.

The mesh on the omega looks like an afterthought. Both nice but omega looks a bit chunky to me.

Difficult choice. Ignoring cost, I really like the Omega but not the mesh bracelet. For an overall package I prefer the Tudor.

This would also be my main criticism of the Omega - the mesh does look like an afterthought. It reminds me of when I owned a Planet Ocean many years ago, bought on a strap but wanted a bracelet so just chucked it on a lumpy.

BB for me. Don't like the orangey markings on the Omega and that mesh strap is dreadful imho.

Love my black bays but money no object would always be the Omega.

I'd normally have plumped for the Omega but the orange lume, broad arrow and mesh bracelet put me right off.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

If cost isn't a factor, I'd go for the Omega personally.

I've owned the BB58 previously and it's a very good watch but I've also tried the Omega on and it's the superior watch and so it should be at that price point.

Omega for me but on nato not the horrible bracelet. What sort of discount have you seen on one? Wouldn't mind one myself at the right price.

The Omega is titanium so it would be lighter.

I wouldn't pick either but if had to I'd pick the Omega. More wrist presence.

    I voted Seamaster but…
I dislike the MOD arrow and fake issue markings on the case back. I don’t mind the bracelet or the faux lume but the whole Bond association is a bit tired.

That said it’s more interesting than the 58 for me, which I think is a bit meh. It’s nice enough but not enough for me to want to buy or even wear one.

Though I love a Seamaster, this one got a step too far with the "fauxtina" so BB for me.

I have an original BB58 and the blue. Both are great and definite keepers for me. However, the Seamaster is a lovely thing. I tried one on a while ago and was very impressed with it. Not impressed enough to be paying the huge uplift over a BB though! It would need a heck of a discount before I would even consider them to be in the same ball-park.

Does the omega have micro adjust on the clasp for the mesh?

    I've voted Tudor.
There are lots of other Seamasters that I'd have in preference to the Tudor but not that one.

I have the Tudor and love it. Even though the Omega is much more expensive if I were offered a straight up trade - my Tudor for the Seamaster - I would pass.

I haven't liked any of the Seamasters since the 2254.50 generation was discontinued. They have gotten bigger and needlessly thicker. That particular Seamaster is huge, thick, has that big HE valve on it and I dislike the lume color. The bracelet looks like an afterthought. No thanks.

Got to be the Tudor, the Omega's milking the James Bond thing to death and this one just looks plain silly, I`d be embarrassed to wear it.

Black Bay 58 for me. Omega looks much better in pictures than in real life.

    Neither TBH, sorry.

Omega lume looks naff and the riveted bracelet is not great on the Tudor.

    BB.

Would struggle to hand over the cash for the Omega if it was the same price as the BB.

I bought a Seamaster 300M back in October. I initially loved it. Very well built with superb tech and time keeping. Last month however I got a BB58 blue. It has perfect dimensions and unfortunately it makes the Omega feel a little bloated. For this reason I'd go BB58.

If I’m honest I think the Omega looks a bit tacky in this guise. The original is much more classic. In this instance I would pick the Black Bay

Yes to both. I am quite familiar with Omega, I own 4 Speedmaster Pros (which are really more 40mm-ish than 42mm) and absolutely love them. Regardless, I remain unimpressed with this watch and the current line of Seamasters in general. They are well built and have fine movements but I don't care for the styling or sizing. I prefer watches that are 39-40mm and are svelte on the wrist.

In all fairness I don't care much for the Black Bay 41mm either - I like the design but too thick for me. I love the 58 though.

  45. #45
If I hadn't read the thread and found out the price difference I'd have voted Tudor. Now I have, I vote Tudor and say you should buy an older seamaster with the change.

The mesh and the oddly coloured lume ruin the omega for me. I like that it's titanium though.

My point was it is sized liked older Seamasters and is not thick at all.

    This or That

Omega for me. It’s not on my list of watches to buy but they really nice in the flesh. The Tudor is boring like all of the blackbays except the bronze ones.

Being honest they are very different watches and wear differently. Have you tried both on in person?
