Vintage wireless / radios enthusiasts ?

I have some radios that I used to collect but now plan to move on. Are there any enthusiasts on here active with vintage radio collecting ?

Not as a collector, but as a nice thing to have maybe. Depends on size, cost and bands available.

I have several vintage radios and also plan to move them on ... possibly via TZ UK SC when have required boxes for shipping.
"Well they would say that ... wouldn't they!"

I used to have several, all 60s and 70s B&O sets.

I am down to two now: a rare 70s purple Beolit 600 and a 60s Beolit 609. I kept these two as they were virtually NOS condition when I found them, and I had them serviced by a well-known B&O guru.

I like to listen to TMS on R4 LW in the garden in summer!

Hmmmmm. Many many years ago I was into ex army radio transmitters and receivers. Had many interesting bits at the time. These were favourites.

Haven’t had anything like this for 50 years or so.

My late father worked as a toolmaker at Bush Radio in Plymouth in the 1950s/60s and always regarded it as his best job ever.

About 10 years ago in a moment of nostalgia I did some research and found out that the Bush VHF94 was its flagship radio and my father would have almost certainly been involved with it. Evidently it cost a fortune to buy and typical customers were Bank Managers and Lawyers etc.

I bought one and had it professionally restored and it now sits pride of place in my office. The only problem is that I can get more music from the pc, so it sits there in permanent silence.

I love the analogue warmth of valves.

Big Nose gave me this one and I treasure it.

They still sound great and are a good heat source for a Stirling engine.

This thread reminds me of this kind of ambient sound.

Ah, but what about the elusive ivory coloured DAC90 ?

    Lovely stuff .

I’m currently building a home office which will have rather a lot of cutting edge graphics workstations and VR .

I quite fancy a crt oscilloscope and some nixie tubes to give it all a bit of retro mad scientist balance.

Not sure I’ll have the deskspace for a military radio set but the idea has a certain appeal . See how much space I have once the desk arrives .

Vintage wireless / radios enthusiasts ?

Used to have a collection of vintage valve radios and go to BVWS sales and auctions. Then moved on to Roberts R200s and early shirt pocket transistors.

Nearly all gone. Had the dried capacitors replaced on this Arvin recently. Also recently sold a nice Sony TR610 on EBay for virtually nowt which I now regret. Good condition, poor signal, again I just think the capacitors needed replacing.

Otherwise just a lovely turquoise valve radio, a modernish Sony 40th anniversary ICF-TR40 and my favourite a Sony ICF-SW1 which has just been received back after capacitor replacement.

    That takes me back some!
My Late Father made a radio rack from an old metal bedstead and had 1155/54, Cr100 and RA17.
I have a few 60s Roberts in various colours gathering dust.
