    What's on your drive?

    Hi chaps.

I can't seem to keep away from the site now I found it a few weeks back. There are some truely amazing and dare I say it beautiful watches that you guys own...some makes and brands that I never even knew existed, and I;ve even bought my 1st watch from sales corner.

I'm guessing that some of you (like me) are into your cars & bikes, so as the title goes, "whats on your drive" (or garage)..

VW Fox 1.2 ... ex demo car bought last year ... 0-60 in about 25 secs :D :D ... Seriously, a very reliable utilitarian motor but a bit heavy on fuel .. only 40mpg on long motorway trips .. more room inside than a Polo which was my last car.

And this is me on a Harley Fat Boy

    Nothing at the moment.

After a string of recent knee surgeries, I couldn't cope on a daily basis with the clutch pressure needed in my earlier modified Saabs so they have all gone to other homes.

But my new baby should be ready to collect from Switzerland by the end of the month where it's being sorted for me by my favourite tuner.

Eddie, don't sell the 968 please don't sell it or if you do sell it to me instead.

Drive: new Maxda MX-5 2.0 sport, 98 Saab 9-5 with aero suspension and BSR ecu upgrade.

Garage: 90 Porsche 944 S2 (still awaiting for me to finish, I need to spend less time on here and more time in the garage doing the bodywork).

Well both kids are now living back at home

So, a couple of Audi TTs, (one a roadster), and an old X reg Mondeo (mine......) and a Fiesta.

Looking at getting myself a Merc CLK, about 3 - 4 years old to replce the Mondeo though.

    Re: What's on your drive?

Not on the drive, but on the parking space in front of the apartment complex:

Well, half of it, anyway... The rear bench and some of the interior trim is in the basement. Needed to sort a rear ABS sensor for the APK (Dutch equivalent of MOT) and found some rust. Ripped the car apart this morning and sprayed tectyl stuff on the rust.

And yes, the bumper is a bit lower on one side than on the other, that's on the list of things to fix...

    Great drive, though... :D

    Re: What's on your drive?

Volkswagen Transporter 2.4 Diesel van, twin cab, 1995. Scratched and dented, and someone stole the logo off the back doors. 78 bhp. Not terribly economic but far better than a Landrover, not very fast either, BUT it will take 5 people plus a 3-man hot-air balloon. The needs of the balloon come first, of course.
So actually, you could say THIS:

(well, sitting folded up in the load bay of the VW part of the time)
No traffic lights for a balloon. No speed cameras...

The other one is a Citroën Berlingo. One of the coolest cars ever according to Top Gear.... ;-) Great for monthly shopping runs if you live in a rural setting.
We are considering getting a donkey-pulled cart someday. These days they have nice lightweight models with good tires and decent brakes. The donkey just eats grass. Not very fast, but CO2 neutral. :D
We already have the donkeys, so...

    Re: What's on your drive?

Well, not on my drive as such, but what I'm driving at the mo:

This was what I was given:

alnog with a driver "For your safety, mr ralphy"; here is a rare shot with his left hand on the wheel (he usually needs to reach across and change gear with it, being as the mobile is permanently held to his right ear)
    :

Soooo, after a bit of 'negotiation', I get to keep (and drive) the Jeep, the (now ex)driver gets to sit in the back - and I also have this at my disposal:

It is enormous; 5.6L of never-ending torque, sounds gorgeous & great fun to floor it & control a four-wheel drift. Drinks fuel at a prodigious rate- but at 15pence a litre..........

This remains my only car - 1967 Alfa Duetto. It's a year older than my 321 Speedy! Not many cars of its day had disc brakes all round, 5-speed box, twin overhead cams with hemispherical combustion chambers.

It's a 750 SFC, and fairly rare. I bought it in Belgium in 1988. It's been very reliable with regular servicing. I believe the paintwork is original. My son rides it more than me now, because rather than have it seize up with no use, he taxes it and insures it for both of us for 6 months a year (summer), and I get the benefit of rising it when I want, and I don't have to worry about the insurance (which as a diabetic is horrendous  ), and it get's used which is good for it - though you ought to see it wobble off down the road with Ben and his partner on board, both with rucksacks and a tent tied to the pillion!!

I can't remember exactly Mike, but I bought a late model BMW R100S at around the same time, and I do remember paying £1200, and it was more than I paid for the Laverda, even including ferry fares, but I did pay import and VAT on top of that. I would say in total, a tad under £1500.

However, prices for motorbikes are insane at the moment. Just sold a few of mine (insurance etc.).

I probably could have got one a lot cheaper if I'd hunted around. I seem to remember that I was looking for an MV Agusta at the time, and saw this advertised in 'Classic Bike', and was on the way south the next day. It had TT100 tubeless (with tubes) fitted at the time, and handled like the tyres were flat, ie not well at all. I stopped and had Metzelers put on, and everything was fine.

I had a less sexy version of that second Nissan (a Sentra here in Canada, with the wheezy 1.5 that they supplied it with back in 1989) and loved it. It looked spectacular to me, and drove like a dream (despite being a basic econo-box). I can't imagine how much fun a spicier spec model would have been.

That looks like a 3rd (*11000*) series SFC Doug or am I wrong?

So you are probably als to be found in Marnix's register.....

an 'Electronica' is still on my wishlist but I just came to owning these two....

With Gijs van Dijk 5 kilometres from my canalside cottage, and the Lekdyke just at the end of the street.....

Have you already been to Cor Dees's museum in Lisse?

AFAIK nice SFC's (with the correct numbers) nowadays change hands for 5 figure (€) numbers..... and if they have a respectable racing pedegree the first of the five numbers is higher than 1....

    Besides a few other triple's there's

which is quite enough in this small, overcrowded and gatso infested country

and an Alfa Romeo 90 QO in the garage as a restoration project.....
