I care nothing for lume and can't see why everyone gets excited about it.

Do you hide under the bed covers with your torches?

Brightest lume of watches I have had are black SMP and Seiko monster.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Shame the bezel dot is green.

    Always thought that odd.

    Discounting tritium vials…

My long gone Omega Dynamic chrono. By far…

The only thing that came close to that, was a Seiko 7002 diver.

Cheers from NJ USA… Joel M

The lume on my 30+ year old 7009 series Seiko is as good as that on many of my modern watches - after 30+ years  Of the others, the lume on the Mido Chrono is superior but the lume on my Mido Multifort Automatic is on the low side of average :|

Overall, Seiko comes up as tops in traditional lume in my experience.

Actually, I'll answer even though I'm sure you intended it as a rhetorical statement rather than a question.

I use mine as a clock at night on the bedstand. I hate those digital numbers glowing at me all night and prefer to have a good watch with solid lume ready to strap on and check when I wake up. The Seikos and the Mido are tops for that but the Poljot Alarm is pretty good too and has the advantage of ...well...the alarm

From Luminova watches, I rate the PRS17 & 18 very highly - they have the wow factor of extreme brightness after a charge. For really usable all-night lume, nothing beats tritium vials, though.

Granted on the Trit dials but I just can't seem to get away from the view that they look just ...well...so Chem Lab to me. If I were in the field or working night shift someplace away from regular light I'd see their utility and live with the Industrial look of them. Fortunately, night shifts were a long time ago for me and I am not out in the field at night except for the occasional Boy Scout event with my son and I'll struggle along with my Seiko for those events. :D
