Agree re Living Daylights...great movie. Maryam d'Arbo has alot to do with....also the last of the true Aston's.
I also (which I know is not popular) really rate On Her Majesty's Service... fantastic.
DC's Casino Royale is great, bar the cringe worth Rolex Omega comment... dreadful and ruins the film. I actually prefer, and again controversial, Quantum of Solace.

I agree...I quite liked QoS...it seemed to strip out a lot of gimmicks like a deformed villain that is taking over the world. The set pieces like the opera and DC-3 flying were also good. Underrated IMO.Originally Posted by gerard

I’ll probably wait for this on Sky or Netflix - lots of obvious CGI, cartoon over- the - top action sequences (which I don’t mind in a sci-fi bit look a bit daft in a ‘real world’ scenario) - I yawned inwardly at the 7 stone girl in evening dress doing kung - fu on the baddies ‘unexpectedly’ - and that’s a convenient rock for Bond to hide behind so the car does an A team flip and he bungees away. I’m getting too old for this sh**!
Looks a bit busy, might just be the final trailer thing, but so many characters, so many plot threads, not sure it'll be able to do a decent job of this as it's not story developing by the looks of it, just big bangs and lead ups to big bangs, hopefully wrong, but they have been over complicating this stuff since Skyfall, which i found a bit of a mess when you looked at the plot throughout, same with Spectre.
It's no surprise that they had their biggest surprise hit with Casino Royale, it was a lot more simple, built up to the ending and had a well balanced cast, unfortunately they've then over complicated Bond with his past, his development, etc, etc, so can't really wind it back i guess.
I think they had their biggest success with Casino Royale because they decided to copy Bourne for the action sequences. Since then, it’s been a typical series that has run out of ideas other than “let’s go bigger than the last”...that’s why seeing Bond sit in a cartoon glider/submarine doesn’t surprise me.

I hated QoS the first time I saw it but enjoyed it on a re-watch. I think one of the reasons that Casino Royale worked well is the second two thirds of the film are fairly close to the plot of the source novel.
And the reason most of the later Bond films have been pony IMO, rubbishy scripts because they ran out of the original Fleming plots long ago.

Like most "classic" cars, there's not a lot of the "original" parts left. I chuckle at the adverts stating "original" "factory fresh" "garage stored" "time warp" etc! Most of them, you can't stick a magnet to!
I think Ed China does them up again.

Half way through reading the book on Fleming's wartime 30 Commando, interesting book and a good insight into clandestine special ops trying to pinch enemy secrets, often that don't go to plan; similar to Bond then.
Not sure on CGI transforming vehicles but their were some interesting WWII 'convertibles' which Flemming may have also come across such as a canoe/submarine, though this is a little bit more believable.
Will most likely go see the film, its a Bond.
