R.I.P. Peter. I hope Mick and John give you the send off you deserve.

Shall I tell you about my life
They say I'm a man of the world
    I've flown across every tide
And I've seen lots of pretty girls
    I guess I've got everything I need
    I wouldn't ask for more
And there's no one I'd rather be
But I just wish that I'd never been born.

And I need a good woman
To make me feel like a good man should
    I don't say I'm a good man
Oh, but I would be if I could
I could tell you about my life
And keep you amused I'm sure
About all the times I've cried
And how I don't want to be sad anymore
And how I wish I was in love

    Peter Green.

Got into them because of my parents.
There aren't many albums that you can just put on and every song is good, but Fleetwood Mac seemed to crack it.

Sad indeed, and only 73. Whatever that couple gave him in Munich in 1970 pretty well messed him up for good. I have a Splinter Group CD and the magic is well and truly gone, no more sweet tone that BB King said gave him the cold sweats.

    Not forgetting ....

Peter Green's hauntingly beautiful guitar playing on Albatross - one of the last great instrumentals of the 1960's.

One of the greats. Followed him since the 60s and his music is timeless. A great talent who walked away from the fame and the fortune.

    RIP Peter

so I said to John Mayall, “Where’s Eric Clapton?”
Mayall answered, “He’s not with us anymore, he left us a few weeks ago.”
I was in a shock of state [sic] but Mayall said, “Don’t worry, we got someone better.”
I said, “Wait a minute, hang on a second, this is ridiculous. You’ve got someone better? Than Eric Clapton?”
John said, “He might not be better now, but you wait, in a couple of years he’s going to be the best.”
Then he introduced me to Peter Green.

I’d always dismissed Fleetwood Mac as a bit of middle of the road, bit of a bore band until i saw the early stuff with Peter and it was like chalk and cheese. He was a seriously, seriously good artist, RIP.

And the new one he made, on learning of Peter's passing:

Shame to hear about Peter, I hope he is at peace now.

I was lucky enough to see him back in the day.

    RIP.
    Cheers,

Not a fan, particularly, but I'm surprised that no one's posted Oh Well yet!

RIP Peter. I have been a fan of all versions of Fleetwood Mac ever since I found out The Chain was by them. I got to see Peter play in 2010. There were still traces of his genius when he played. I had a 2 hour car journey today so listened to the excellent Live at the BBC compilation. It really shows how good the first version of Fleetwood Mac was.

This seems appropriate to listen to today.

Loved the "Dustbin" album. Along with the Cream's "Wheels of Fire" and the Beatles "Revolver" it's right up there with my favourites.
