The lockdown project no2, pimping the garage, is almost done but I am still undecided on the floor finish, the last bit.
In the past of have painted with just standard floor paint but would like something a bit more durable and aesthetic. So considerations are, epoxy twin pack, some kind of interlocking flooring or altro or Marley of some description. I don't really want to ceramic tile it.
Any thoughts and experiences on the above would be appreciated.

I would tile it with those special plastic interlocking tiles made for garage floors.
I once painted a garage floor and it was always wet thereafter only really being dry in the summer.
The water simply dripped off of the cars when put away wet.
Of course if you are not going to put wet cars in the garage then the world of floor covering is your oyster.

I bought them for the purpose of setting up a home gym which I've done. However, they are excellent quality, don't move and very easy to clean. Far better than the £10 packs you can buy.

I use carpet tiles for my garage floor, been down for about 5 years without any problems.
If you have the money then Swisstrax Ribtrax is the way to go.
I got quoted £1,200 for a 6x5m garage (225 tiles in total) but haven't pulled the trigger as yet though. GALA are the UK distributor.

Mine is interlocking plastic tiles , had them about 15 years now and still look ok. Cheap enough , a mate bough a load of them from China and I just had what was left ,. loads of them of ebay

I've tried normal garage paint, epoxy garage paint and this is the only thing that lasts .
Another vote for interlocking plastic tiles, I used Eco Tiles about six years ago & still look great. Will stand a trolley jack etc & more feet/knee friendly than any paint if you actually do any work in the garage. Simple enough job to fit if you’re DIY competent.

Ebay. Had one about 10 years and the other about 5 , they hold up well but I found the more room you have for tools you more tools you buy to fit them :)

If you go the 2-pack paint route, get geared up properly to work quickly and plan it out in advance as there’s little time left for faffing about with tools etc once you’ve started
this was plain old Johnstones floor paint, 2 coats and held up really well so far

Recently just used epoxy paint from resincoat, has left a really good tough and nice looking finish
Watco make some excellent Epoxy floor paints, but once you mix the hardener you’ll have around 30 minutes to spread it. But as a Surveyor I’ve seen this used in heavy commercial situation extremely effectively.

I looked at most of the plastic type floor tiles and decided they were relatively expensive. In the end I went for carpet tiles and to honest they are lasting well. I put the car in every night whether it is wet or not. I do run a dehumidifier in there all the time which does help.
I wasn't sure how they would last but I am glad I went the carpet tile route. I vacuum it every week or so and it looks good still.

I put down the interlocking plastic gym floor type tile and then carpeted it over the top with some pub carpet i nicked from a skip. Nice soft underfoot.
I’m putting porcelain tiles down on mine just been pricing and ordering thing these last two weeks
Use a good two pack epoxy and match you favourite car, that's what I did
Used Dacrylate expoy paint in 3 units & 2 garages, it’s been down over 10yrs with no issues. Very hard wearing although marks if something heavy and sharp goes over it.

Costco do a good deal on a roll of heavy duty vinyl in metallic silver/grey finish. The also do the interlocking tiles.
Don’t know your meterage but worth taking a look.

If you use epoxy make sure there is grit mixed into it if there isn't it gets slippery.
I put my old lounge carpet in there when we replaced with laminate (due to dog!). The dog's been dead for years and the carpet still hoovers up perfectly!!! A carpeted garage? Yes! It works!

I covered mine with big 8x4 thick rubber gym matts. Has worked well.
Some lovely super smooth painted floors on display here. Did you use self-levelling compound?
I've had plastic tiles supplied by Big Dug on eBay down for at least 5 years now and they've proved very resilient and also reasonably comfortable to walk on.

It is. 5x5 meters.
Duramat is ok but it’s not solid, so an axel stand for example would possibly push through the tile. The EcoTile stuff is solid.

Do you know the advantage of vinyl floors? For me, one of the main advantage of vinyl floors is that they are really durable. If they are installed in the correct way, they can last for a very long time with minimum maintenance. Check more information about rigid core vinyl flooring at Ambient® site.

Month on with some wet weather and it has been fine. Chucking a wet and dry vacuum over it every other week and it’s looking good. As an extra I am laying 2m x 5m x 3mm rubber down in the worst of winter.Do you know the advantage of vinyl floors? For me, one of the main advantage of vinyl floors is that they are really durable.
It has also been a dream to work on the cycles In the garage.

We did ours with porcelain tiles which was an absolute nightmare at the time, but has really stood the test of time.
Thread resurrection - but how’s it looking a few years later? I’ve still got my mats down and they’re brilliant but wanna do other side of garage with resin or something
