Yeh I have seen plenty of those, they hunt on the move and dont sit around in webs, quite often carry an egg sack on their back until the little ones hatch

I've seen many, many of those over the years - definitely common and actually one of the tidier ones to have around as they don't seem to make webs.
thats a relief Murkey unless of course you're living in Brazil and they also jump ???
1st time we have seen them when you approach they're the kind of spider that then comes at you rather than running which is always a surprise and they seem to be very fond of ceilings.....
relieved they are U.K. based and have not arrived in my Amazon packages
It's a wolf spider. Our cat loves them – yum yum!

Talking about Spiders, while we're home rummaging through the shed for that stash of mid 80's Fiesta and Razzle magazines you best watch out for the false widow, they do have a kick if they bite and I have seen quite a few in my garden and shed..
I hate the hairy bastards and always keep the airsoft pistol charged and ready this time o' year when they run around looking for spidery sex.
I had something as big as that thing in the vid land on my head in Belize while sat outside a bar. It used me as a springboard and ran off, I chased it and it turned around and ran back at me. I still shudder to think of it.
I just found...Spider vs Cockroach...on YouTube. Its subtitle is "This is why you keep spiders around."
I've caught quite a few of those in our apartment here in Sydney - same technique with the plastic takeaway container - but never had one on my head. The good news is that they aren't poisonous...

Why did I even start to read this thread, hairs on my arm upright atm
All part of growing up getting bit, stung, scared, I remember my lad playing in a hotel garden down Devon, he must have been 3 or 4, he let out a scream and opened his hand to see a spider run away, unfortunately he doesn’t have spidey powers but is aware of what could happen if he plays with spiders, actually same thing happed with a bee, he grabbed it and guess what!!
Spider bite African style (give me a British spider any day)

Thank you for dignifying my somewhat curt retort.
You're right of course.
My daughter is quite fearless - for her birthday once, she handled scorpions and various spiders which had the adults cowering in the corner.
I also made the mistake of viewing the YouTube channel of that bloke who gets stung on purpose by the worst that the insect world has to offer.
Perhaps I am getting old.
Murky, you're an absolute shower for posting that. I've just watched it again.
