Sizing a new watch - how do you do it?

Silly question but just curious on how would you do it (assuming you didn't size it on purchase).

    1. Don't wear a watch, bring the new watch to the shop in the box.
    2. Don't wear a watch, bring the new watch to the shop in your pocket.
    3. Wear a watch, bring new watch to the shop in a box so you can place your current one in the box and wear the new one.
    4. Wear a watch, bring new watch to the shop in your pocket. Place current watch in pocket when you leave.

It's my first time resizing a 2nd watch (I know!) and I'm thinking of '3'.

Obviously options above are not exhaustive...

    2. Sort of. I'd wear nothing, bringing the new watch with me in a travel pouch or cleaning cloth to protect it.

    Wear it home after.

If it’s just a screw in single side link I would do it myself at home. Bergeon screw driver set and done. I find some staff in AD’s can be very ham fisted and scratch watches. I am in dispute with an AD for butchering the end links (upper side) of my 58 when changing the bracelet.

Just wear what the wife leaves out next to the rest of the clothes/shoes for that day.
It's just a matter of time...

When I recruited my butler, I explicitly made sure that his wrist size was identical to mine. So I merely dispatch him off to the relevant AD on my behalf.

How do you choose the shop?
Does the pocket have to have a zip on it? Trousers or jacket pocket?

If screws I'd back myself to make less of a mess than the dealer. If hateful Omega pin/collar things remove bracelet and replace with Isofrane strap ...

On purchase or do it myself. I am a complete novice and I have done several successfully.

The more I learn and do myself the more interesting and enjoyable I find it. I have done several battery changes and recently regulated my first watch.

    Go for it.

    Great franchise idea, thanks!

Mobile watch fitter - I’m gonna make millions from this. Just stick your arm out of the window and we’ll do the rest (thinking of a tie up with wandering fingers - the mobile manicure franchise)

PM me if you want to be one of the first franchisees - special rates apply for the first 100 applicants.
