Hi Any genealogy experts on site?
Trying to work out what releation my Aunt's grandson is to me... Is he my first cousin once removed or a second cousin? I thought the former but I have been told the latter.
Please to hear.
Rob

He's your second cousin.
On the same topic my Grans sisters dad would be my?
My Grans sisters dad was killed in WW1,
My great gran then remarried and had my gran, just to confuse matters she remarried her first husband's brother.

You are "First cousin once removed" see this attached:
Attachment 16682
(quote) "First cousins once removed" declares that either one of you are one generation away from being first cousins. For example, if your first cousin has kids, they are your first cousins once removed - the closest common ancestor shared are your grandparents but are "once removed" from the level of first cousin (held by their parents).

He is your first cousin once removed.
His parent (your aunt's child) is your first cousin. The 'removal' is by reason of it being another generation's worth of separation.
Thanks, all. Now cleared up. First cousin once removed is what I thought as he's one generation removed from my first cousin.
