    Reseal whats involved?

When recently getting a battery changed on a diver the watchmaker asked if I wanted it resealed.I told him as it went no deeper than the bath bottom I would pass but asked the price of the reseal and nearly fell over when he said £35.Other than regreasing the seal and screwing on the back, what else is there to do? The shop I used in Spain did that everytime they took the back of any watch I took there and gave it a pressure test no charge.A case of rip-off Britain or am I missing something?

No, nothing more than a rip off

He should, as a routine, change the case seal when he replaces the battery. A case seal should cost no more than 10p!!

    That sounds like a laugh!

Pressure test is quite different and involves some serious machinery, time and diligence.

That's strange, and hope it works out.

Being curious, I would have asked him.

    Best wishes,

It works both ways... if he can answer it's fine. If not it's fine too - because I would save some money ;)

Even though one can't compare the situation I'm pleased by Rolex service. I usually take my watches once a year to Rolex branch to check water resistance. They check it and in case of doubt change the seal precautionary - without asking for any payment. BTW, always very friendly and down-to-earth service.

And sometimes they put a new crown on your watch, and you get the old one.
Why?, I don't know, crown did look and works perfectly most of the time  .

    Cheers,

    Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!

With some of the "stuff" that floats in there I hope not (for his sake) :D
