Way to make a watch unsaleable.
Then again it makes it totally unique and if kept for ever who cares.
Each to their own. The skill however is undoubted.
This guy engraves watches, not sure I would do it myself but it's certainly one way to make your watch unique.
I can imagine some people might be horrified at this!

I’ve seen this done to a Rolex, and a Mk II Kingston. It certainly is a matter of taste, but it makes the piece one of a kind. More valuable? Certainly, though you have to find the right buyer.
And by the way: “hand engraved.” $$$ £££
Looks like a whetherspoons pub carpet
Vast improvement over stock. But costing a vast amount too!
Seriously skilled work and I really like the outcome.
And they're all made specifically for each pub by Axminster Carpets...I'm sure they'd be flattered to be associated with this engraving (I know which I'd rather have )

Not to my taste, but a million times better than the standard moneybags diamond encrusted custom jobs you see.
I really like that.
"A man of little significance"
Really like the idea of an engraved watch, but the cost and loss of value to the average punter is horrific, but find the one customer and bingo.
But value aside I like it.
I think it is disrespectful to the original designer.
Like having a fine / the best steak ever, then covering it ketchup
Not for me, well I cant afford a pp anyway!! But you have to respect his talent, amazing skills
Bit ott that example but when done right engraving looks fantastic. Carl Palmer (drummer of ELP fame) had a ss drumkit custom engraved back in the 70s. It was stunning in it's execution but who could see it in a 20.000 seat arena? then there were Zemaitis guitars used by the rock elite in the 70s and of course the Purdey Panerai's. but if it comes to resale I suspect that patek is going to hang around

Patek do some pretty spectacular hand engraved "production" pieces. Not to my taste, but I have to admire the craftsmanship!
I really like the engraved pieces. Saw a picture of the Urwerk UR-210 full metal engraved a while ago and thought it was beautiful. I fully believe watches are to be worn and enjoyed but this would test my belief haha id be so worried about damaging the engraving.
If anyone has Instagram it’s well worth following bram Ramon. His work is very impressive.

Definitely prefer the more subtle / polished look of the AP in the above photos. Not a massive fan of overly decorated watch metalwork but the skill involved is undeniable.
Personally I'd prefer something more discrete like a custom watch back with the engraving there, so I know it's there but no one else does.
I have to admit I like it the more I see it, but it is ostentatious, a PP 5990 probably wouldn't be noticed by 99.9% of non watch enthusiasts, but do that to it and I bet even people who are not into watches would comment on it.
Not to everyone's taste, but I like it.
Makes a Nautilus slightly more palatable, IMO!
Check out Johnny Dowell (Kingnerd on Instagram). He's done some amazing work with Urwerk and other brands.
I think they’re both amazing!
Very baroque.. watching the video is quite scary and mesmerising at the same time.
Having said that, I wouldn’t want this on any of my watches, as I wear them all..
But I probably wouldn’t mind having this job done on an ‘exhibition only’ piece

Until I saw this, I honestly did not think that it was humanly possible to create an uglier watch than the Nautilus.
I have now been proven wrong.
What rubbish. This isn't something hand crafted per order. A design was created, and then its produced in bulk. Its a production watch ffs, not some one of a kind masterpiece.
And if it was the best steak ever, then there wouldn't be a need for ketchup. If ketchup was used, then it was because the individual who purchased it felt the steak was lacking something :)
Coco Chanel got it right. "Less is more"
but you have to admire the skill and craftmanship.
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.
Friedrich Nietzsche
Looks like it would match a similarly engraved drug dealers handgun.
Not to my taste, totally spoiled the watch imo.
Really nice I think, but then again I appreciate these sort of skills and let’s face it a watch is jewelry after all.,
