I had a long journey with panerai straps before finally finding what I really like. IMHO there are two types that I like, the thick chunky ones and the more authentic historical ones.
For chunky I like corrigia and Toshi, with the sewn in sword type buckle. It is nice to be able to spec every last detail on the strap. I have come to like a long tail side and am happy with what I now have.
For the historical type I have found Kostas to be first class. I have one of his straps on my 721 and it looks amazing.
Then you could try canvas, rubber or NATO, which to me are good for the summer but I generally prefer the leather.
Enjoy the journey, and remember that you can NEVER have too many straps.
