    New Years resolution

Apart from all the usual ones about reducing weight, getting fit, stopping smoking etc do any of you have any interesting new yrs resolutions for the year ahead?

I didn’t manage to take my son fishing last year but that will change this year. That’s my only one.

I made a resolution a long time ago to give up giving stuff up.

It’s the only thing I’ve really stuck to!

I don't usually make resolutions either. However, like Nick, I have decided to:

I’m not a big fan of New Year celebrations etc, always seems pointless to me, but the new year is a good time to take stock and reflect on the previous year, looking at what went well and what didn’t. It’s logical to look for ways to make improvements and that includes a degree of soul-searching.

On this basis I’ve made a few resolutions, but the key one is to stop trying to help/advise friends and family members. That might sound harsh, but it’s clear to me that they simply don’t listen. From now on they can all do as they please. No doubt I’ll get berated by wifey for taking no interest.......but what’s the point if they won’t listen?

I have only one resolution and that is never, ever make resolutions.
Taking stock and reflecting on your past year and thinking hard and long about the new one is a different matter.

    Hahahahah!

I have much the same view this year. One example are friends with a very busy family, who wanted a family dog... came to me as their main responsible dog owning friend...... I suggested a 4 year old lab as easy to integrate.

They bought a 8 month old, Romainian rescue street dog that appears to be part deer hound..... it’s a fricken nightmare.... they asked (pleaded) for help.... I said they were on their own!!

So, if I offer advice this year and it’s not taken, I am stepping out of any follow on activities!

Not really Resolutions, but I do have some aims for 2019.

    1. Visit the Daytona 24 hour race
    2. Reach a total of 450 logged dives (Nothing compared to some here, I know, but I like a target to inspire me to get out and dive)
    3. Go on a Red Sea (Probably) liveaboard holiday, for a week of solid diving.

    4. Get a job I actually enjoy.

    5. Spend less on frivolous purchases

First is all booked, the rest I need to work on.

Stop using my phone so much, be a bit less materialistic and go on holiday somewhere different for a change.

    Same as last year.
