Thread: Anyone else now gone and bought themselves what they really wanted for Christmas?

  1. #1

Anyone else now gone and bought themselves what they really wanted for Christmas?

After much hint dropping and outright I would like a new cordless drill for Christmas, I have now bought one myself. The new wireless headphones, aftershaves and clobber that I got instead have been put away with the existing wireless headphones, aftershaves and clobber and the new drill / driver combo is winging its way to me.

Yes. Bought a pro dog dryer/blaster for Jack (Cocker Spaniel). Been promising myself one for ages. Soaking wet to bone dry in 5 mins. This time of year his coat acts like a wick even if it's not raining. A hairdryer is a waste of time, not to mention it gives me back ache!

Bought myself a painting on Xmas eve, but I'd only seen it the day before, so not really the same thing.

Seem to have spent a fortune since Xmas though... replacement dishwasher as ours chose xmas day to die, ipad mini for the wife to stop her moaning about her mk1 version (although the new one is still in the box!), car rental for trip to Daytona in January...

I just keep telling them Whisky : preferably Islay Malts .

Still get things like gourmet popcorn ( hate popcorn)

Someone got me a 6 pack of Stella 😬 wouldn’t have minded but I got them a nice box of interesting IPA.

Only just convinced my Mum to stop buying me underwear . Still got me a dressing gown and PJs ( don’t wear PJs , nothing but a dab of Chanel No.5).

Just bought a couple of Apple Airports for the house, music for each room now. Bought a decent dash cam for the camper van with a hard and temporary wire kit, I can stick it in one of the cars too. I did get a few things that I wanted as well though as presents.

Some 20 odd years ago, I was down at my dad's and my then-little half brother got a Sega Game Gear for Christmas and I got a crappy picture. I was miffed. When I got back home, I went and bought myself a Mega Drive on the grounds that I had a job and could afford my own toys. Ha Ha!

When I was out shopping before Christmas I had a bout of nostalgia and splashed out on one of these. It's brilliant!

    https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8367862

I've actually still got the original Mega Drive (one day it'll be a collector's item), but the chances of getting it to play nicely with my 4K TV are slim to none. The new one has an HDMI port and was running in 2 minutes.. Sonic is still as much fun as ever.

    Cheers,

    Plug

JomaShop has a Christmas sale running and I remembered that I still have an unused store credit of $117 from 2017. I found this Baby Monster on sale and now it's mine for only $33! (Photo stolen! )

A replacement (secondhand) rear spoiler for my 964. The original one had split and a new one from Porsche was £717 plus VAT.

Treated myself to the Panasonic 55” OLED TV I’d be after on Black Friday and got a cracking price match deal- been busy doing jobs around the house but have thoroughly enjoyed watching the TV in the evenings and I’m still blown away by the picture quality

Yup, new Samsung sound bar and sub for my TV. Wife's quite pleased as with the 'clear voice' technology I can now hear what the mumbling people on tv are actually saying.

Well the wife didn't take the hint so I bought myself a sonos beam today. Apparently I might have ranted at her stop buying stuff we don't need until the house refurb is done. Whoops.

I will be shortly if the January sales don't yield a lower price than I can already get for a Fjallraven Yupik jacket.

Oculus Rift which is very cool. Less cool is the new PC I just had to order to run it properly, about 6 x the cost of the rift. Hope it was all worth it.............

For the whole thing? Surprised it was ‘only’ that much knowing Porsche.

I was fixing an oil line on a 964 a few years back and noticed his silencer was falling apart, sure it was near on £2k just for the silencer box part.

It will be, I have one and it’s great. Robo Recall is the pick of the free games but Google Earth VR is free and a great introduction into VR.

A fantastic jacket absolutely love mine much better than the Canada goose one I had which was far too warm I couldn’t fasten it for fear of over heating lol.

Bought myself a new tv, Sonos Beam and now a sub on order from Vinny, expensive Christmas but I got exactly what I wanted lol

I got a sweater from the Mrs......despite having told her many times that I don’t like sweaters/pullovers! She’s been with me for 22 years and she should’ve noticed by now that I don’t wear them. Oh well, I’ll have to wear it to keep her happy!

Wife bought me 2 'branded' shirts in Debenhams, no interest.

Returned them today for refund and bought 4 decent shirts on Charles Thyrwitt for same price.

A Weihrauch HW98 air rifle, Hawke panorama scope and all the extra bits like bag, selection of pellets etc - to add to the ever expanding collection! - since moving to a rural area it’s all guns and wax jackets, watches barely feature!

It was just the plastic top (with the vents). The whole spoiler including motors, gears, relays, curtain, etc is more like £3k plus, I imagine.

The replacement rear box is now over £2k, but you can get a SS replacement from Dansk for about £1500 😀 bargain.

Two levi's leather trucker jackets, one regular black leather and the other black sheepskin lined.

Actually ended up with two of each after further reduction in the sales so reordered and sending the original less discounted ones back.Very happy with both.

Also a pair of Redwings I still haven't told the other half about..Will break them in while she's away, doubt she will notice yet another pair!

Probably up to around 20 jackets and 70 pairs of assorted footwear, mostly boots or adidas originals, loads still unworn in boxes.

    Really need to stop!!
