    Question/Advice: PP 5968 A

    Hi guys, some help here...

Would you lose an Hulk and a SD43 to buy a PP 5968 A at retail price?

    Who has one? Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    David

    100% yes.

I am in the process of a reshuffle to accommodate my 5167a and certainly wouldn't hesitate doing the same for the 5968.

The green one anytime, but I couldn‘t part with the SD I guess... even for that fantastic Patek.

If you need to ask a forum, then you're uncertain. Best not to take such a leap until your own mind is made-up.
I'd keep the Rolexes because I don't think these Pateks are all that special. This is a minority view.

Absolutely not. One of the most ghastly Pateks there is.

It's not my favourite PP, I thought it felt quite big on and bought the 5167a instead. Saying that I'd still go ahead with the purchase, if you buy it and don't like it you could probably sell it on and make enough profit to buy at least one of those Rolex back.

Totally go for it. I tried the Patek on at a recent event, it was just perfect. Feasible only watch.

Just seen the one on watchfinder for 70k...that is insane.

Got rid of my sd43. May have been a stupid error but I don’t miss it at all. I know if I got rid of my hulk it would be missed. Could get a 5167 and have all 3?

Without hesitation - a yes from me - I have a soft spot for PP as you may know. The Rolex are good - but that Patek is something else!

I have also a white face Daytona C and a 16710 coke in my collection that I could use to raise money but I think it would be more difficult to get them in the future...

or maybe I should let go the PP....

    Hard decision to deal with...

A few years back I swopped an Omega Silver Snoopy and a Rolex Daytona Mark 1 Zenith floating dial Daytona full set for an Aquanaut and the numbers at that time stacked up in favour of the PP. People on here thought that I had made the right decision.

Two years in the Snoopy is £20k+ and the Daytona is not far behind and the Aquanaut even using WF prices is miles behind. So if I asked the same question today, I am sure many would say don't do it.

It is a gamble - but the best advice is go with your heart.

An Aquanaut is the only watch I have ever sold ,when buying ,it was a choice between a Franck Muller and it . I went for the PP but it is not blessed with looks . I sold it for the purchase price . Dodged two bullets .I still have a FM on a bracelet , bought pre owned in New York when slightly pissed , they are what PPs used too be stylish.

Well if you don’t want it...can I have it?! If you’ve only worn watches on a bracelet you may prefer a 5990. I think the 5968 looks/would be great but haven’t handled one in the flesh.

I’d find it difficult to let a sub LV go but I would do the trade.

So how does it compare then ? I have quite a few Rolex a d a PP 5711. When I tried 5968 I was totally impressed - way more so than the 5711. Only issue I have is the darn wait to get one (and being honest it's mental money)

5711 is much nicer in my opinion and an even longer wait!

This is nice but it is also thick so it could house the movement, I think many will not expect that if they have come from any other nautilus or aqua.

Still very nice, as most PPs are, enjoy
