Mora. Or an Opinel.
Both will be appreciated.
Well, as part of the "Secret Santa" at work I've drawn a colleague who's into outdoorsy stuff and often goes with his young adult/kids on survival trips.
Now the budget is set by the organisers at £10 give or take a quid and I'm stumped.
I don't want to get crap but what else is there for £10?
I thought about a knife but know little about them and I'm not sure of anything in that budget will be total rubbish and either break or go blunt when stared at harshly?
Is it possible to get a hunting/survival knife for around £10 that's not garbage?
I've seen some on Amazon and other on-line knife emporiums for that price but are they any good?
Advice welcome.
Neil.
You can get a nice mora for a tenner. But I'm superstitious and would never give a knife as present to someone. How about a titanium spork?
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

I don't know about hunting/survival knives but I keep one of the mini Victorinox SAKs on my keys and it is ridiculously useful to have to hand pretty much full time. So useful in fact that I have a second one in my work bag.
Thanks, they seem okay but once I pay for shipping they're out of budget and rules is rules, the limit has to be a maximum spent including postage.
Perhaps I'll take the easy way out and get him a bottle of wine!
Utilikey will be within budget.
A cheap generic multi tool perhaps ? Unlikely to be very decent but always useful. Or a Cree torch? Even cheap ones are pretty impressive for brightness.
If not a knife, something outdoorsy/survivalist like a Swedish fire steel or a Swedish army plastic folding cup?
If he already has an SAK or multi tool, a paracord lanyard?

here you go under budget and a nice little gift, i'd be happy to get this.
P&P is included
https://www.heinnie.com/victorinox-escort
Walking socks or some Kendall Mint Cake.
Swiss Army Knife, any.

If your prime and get free postage you can alter the price up a few quid. I'd look at a thermos, torch, wool hat. Failing that a 10 quid go outdoors vouchers and an energy bar
Mora knives as already said by others, cheap and decent blades. Although carrying a fixed blade knife can lead to problems these days if you can't prove good reason. So a UK legal folder, multi-tool or torch might be a better option.
The outdoor clothing shops tend to carry lots of small stuff like this.
Or check out Heinnies....

If not a knife how about a nice sharpening steel or fire starter?
A penny under budget

If you need anything for a tenner from Amazon for yourself...how about a Fire Steel (£5.94 for the next 2½ hours) and some TinderSticks (£3.99)?
Ladybird knot tying kit.

Another vote for Mora or Opinel, also these Hultafors knives are great quality at a fantastic price

Decent jazz mag and a packet of silk cut, what's not to like?
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

And again free delivery.
I have used these guys and had no problems. They did a very nice personalisation on a SAK for Mrs N a couple of years back.
I wish others would put this much effort into their secret-Santa gifts!
All I ever seem to get is something crap like flashing Dame Edna specs, an awful desk/card game or some other similar tut.
Must remember to be grateful though of course.....
Just buy a Wackel Elvis for their car journey into the wilderness and be done with it.
Everyone loves a Swiss Army knife, I'd go with basic one of those
The Hultafors HVK Craftsman with the black rubberized handle is surprisingly good. Better steel (SK5 tool steel) than a carbon steel Mora, longer tang and better grip. Larger front finger guard, better for rough work or kids. The grind is higher, thus keener, and it is a better slicer than a Mora. Disclosure, I have one... ;-)
And at £7.54 with free delivery it meets the OP's requirement...link.
Someone has just told me that the guy is a guitarist and into vintage & prog rock.
Perhaps I will also look for guitar based options i.e. history of guitars etc.
